Box Score 2 TURLOCK — Despite decent pitching, the Warriors softball team dropped two close games on the second day of the Tournament of Champions at the Pedretti Sports Complex.
Unable to come up with the clutch hit against Holy Names, the Warriors dropped a 1-0 decision before a 5-3 loss in a night game.
The Warriors, 1-4 in pool play, will be in a consolation game on Sunday, taking on CCAA foe San Francisco State at 9 a.m. The game will be played at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex, behind Pitman High School.
Karina Callazo pitched a two-hitter against Holy Names, but the Warriors offense couldn't provide much scoring help.
Cassidy Duke went 2-for-3 with a double and
Morgan Balestreri also ahd two hits, however the Warriors left the bases loaded twice, including in the seventh inning.
The Warriors ended up leaving nine runners left on base. Callazo allowed just a run on two hits in seven innings.
Against Central Washington, the Warriors held a 2-0 lead but the Wildcats' four-run fourth inning pushed them ahead for the 5-3 game.
Jessica Varady was flawless without allowing a run or hit in 2 2/3 innings with four strikeouts in relief to highlight Stanislaus' efforts.
