Box Score 2 Turlock - The Cal State Stanislaus softball team dropped a doubleheader to Sonoma St. on the final day of the season, 0-9 (5 inn.) and 3-9 (9 inn.). With the losses the Warriors finish the season 15-35 overall and 7-28 in the CCAA.
Game one started with the Warriors down 7-0 after two innings and the Warrior offense was not able to recover. Sonoma tacked on two more in the top of the fifth and held Stanislaus scoreless to end the game. The Warriors were only able to collect two hits in the opener, one each from
Cassidy Duke and
Jessica Varady.
In the second game the Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to bounce back from a 3-1 deficit and eventually send the game to extra innings. Stanislaus' three runs came on an RBI single by
Jessica Varady in the 4th, and then in the sixth a sacrafice fly by
Natalie Dorsey, followed by an RBI single of the bat of
Amy Pedretti. Senior
Natalie Rendon turned in a gutty performance pitching into the 9th inning, but a lead off walk and a single to follow chased her from the game. Sonoma was then able to break the game open scoring six runs on five hits and a pair of walks.Â
Holly Mooring, Varady and Pedretti accounted for the Warriors only three hits.
Prior to the game the Warriors honored four seniors playing in the last games,
Holly Mooring,
Jessica Varady,
Angela Mendoza and
Natalie Rendon.
