About the Broncos: 7th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona had its 12-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by UC San Diego (72-69) in La Jolla … The Broncos have out-scored CCAA opponents by a +10.3 margin in six games … Jordan Faison averages 18.9 points per game, third best in the league.

Saturday, Jan. 2, 7:30 p.m.
@ Humboldt State Lumberjacks (11-1, 5-1 CCAA), Lumberjack Arena, Arcata, Calif. |  [Live Stats] [Live Video & Audio] [Live Audio]

Series Notes: The Warriors are looking for their first win in Arcata (0-9) during hte CCAA era. HSU is 15-3 against the Warriors since joining the CCAA (42-31 all-time).

Last Time We Met... the Warriors lost at Arcata, 71-58, by allowing 20 points off turnovers. Alek Carlson (10 points) was 1 of 3 Warrior to score in double digits.

About the Lumberjacks: HSU, winner of seven straight games, leads the CCAA in scoring with 89.3 points a game (80.2 in conference games) by making a league leading 10.3 three-pointers a game … CCAA player of the week Rakim Brown averages 20.8 points a game and Thomas Witzel chips in 16.3 points more.

Warriors Notes

A Nice 4-2 Start: The Warriors are off to a solid 4-2 start, matching last year's squad's record after six conference games. The 2014-15 went on to go 6-1 in the next seven games. The 2013-14 team, which set a school record with 23 wins, started 3-3 in CCAA play.

How Long Is the Trip? This week's trip will be the Warriors' longest bus trip of the season. In all (from Wednesday to Sunday), the team will travel more than 1,500 miles and at least 25 hours on the bus.

Tough Buildings To Play In: Kellogg Arena (Pomona) and Lumberjack Arena (Arcata) are two of the toughest facilities for a visiting team to play in as the home teams have been hugely successful. Over the past six seasons, Cal Poly Pomona is 75-14, and are so far 5-0 this season, on home court. Humboldt State is already 9-0 at home this season and boasts a 81-18 record since the 2010-11 season. Stanislaus is 2-15 in Pomona and 0-9 in Arcata during the CCAA era.

Mr. Consistency: Sophomore guard Christian Bayne has been the most consistent Warrior in the first 11 games. Bayne has scored in double-digits in every game and leads the team with a 15.4 points per game average. Bayne posted a career-high 26 points on Nov. 28 at Fresno Pacific (where he went 11-for-11 on the foul line) and has scored 16 or more points in five of the last six games.

Evans Chips In, Heats Up: Stephen Evans, who got his first start as a Warrior on Saturday, continues to heat up with two double figure games. He had his best game as a Warrior on Friday with 15 points and seven rebounds. He added 14 points and six boards on Saturday. Evans is now third on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game.

Carlson Drops Career High 24: Alek Carlson scored a career-high 24 points, with six three-pointers, Friday night to light-up the scoreboard in the overtime win over Cal State L.A. He scored 14 of those points in the first half. His six three-pointers made tied a personal best as he also made six earlier this season on Nov. 28 at Fresno Pacific.

Do or Die by the 3's: The Warriors' success in CCAA games so far can be attributed to how well they hit the three-pointers. As a team, the Warriors are second in the league with a 39.0 3-point field goal percentage and has held opponents to a 29.5 percentage, which is second best. Saturday's loss was the first time a CCAA team made fewer three-pointers than the Warriors and won — perhaps that's because most of the Warriors' long range baskets came in the late rally against Cal State San Marcos.

Speaking of Making Three's: Christian Bayne is the most prolific three-point shooter on the team as he's made 45.7 percent of his 3-point attempts. That number is even better during CCAA games, when he made 54.2 percent of them (13-for-24).
