Stanislaus State Women's Basketball is back at home to host its first weekend of competitions of 2017. On Friday, the Warriors will host the Seawolves of Sonoma State, and they will take on the San Francisco State Gators on Saturday night.

Series Notes: The Warriors and Seawolves have competed a total of 35 times in CCAA history. Stan State falls just behind Sonoma State with a 15-20 face-off record. Last season, the Warriors challenged Sonoma State just once with a win at home.

Back From Break
The Warriors are back for their second weekend after a 10 day break for the holiday. They started out their return to the court by traveling to Cal State San Bernardino and UC San Diego last weekend. Before then, the Warriors hadn't competed since Dec. 18th, and haven't seen their home court since Dec. 10th.
Sanders-Curry on Top
Senior forward
Cassidy Sanders-Curry was named the CCAA women's basketball player of the week for the week of Dec. 25 - Jan. 1.
Sanders-Curry had two 20-plus point performances on the road last weekend. She now has nine double digit scoring games this season, including two double-doubles against San Jose State and UC San Diego ... In Thursday's game against the Coyotes Sanders-Curry shot 67 percent (6-for-9), going 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point line, and 7-for-10 from the free throw line for a total of 23 points. The following night against the Tritons Sanders-Curry scored a season-high 24 points, with four three pointers and an 8-for-9 effort from the charity stripe. On the weekend, Sanders-Curry averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and two assists.
CCAA So Far
With their immense success thus far, the Warriors are sitting second to the top of the CCAA women's basketball standings. With a 4-1 record, Stan State falls just behind UC San Diego and their 5-1 CCAA record for the season, which includes a mere six point win over the Warriors last weekend. The Warriors are followed by four teams fighting for third in the conference, each with a 4-2 CCAA record.
Heavy at Home
After being on leave and on the road for almost a month, the Warriors will spend three out of the next four weekends on their home court. Stan State remains confident at home after going 3-1 at Fitzpatrick Arena so far this season. The Warriors success at home includes victories over Academy of Art, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Humboldt State.
Continuing Growth
Since their last home game in early December, seven Warriors have bettered their game and increased one or more of their season highs.

Angelica Baylon also increased her season high.
Reaching the Mark
In his fifth season as the head coach of the Stan State women's basketball program,
Wayman Strickland is coming up on his 100th CCAA competition. Only nine games away, coach Strickland will reach the monumental game mark at San Francisco State in early February.
