Senior Leader Steps Up
For the fourth consecutive game, Erika Larsen has scored in the double digits, serving as the team's leading scorer with 16 points in both games last week. On both Tuesday and Saturday she went 8-for-11 (.727) from the field, had four rebounds, and she added on four blocks and a steal against Chico State on Saturday ... In only six games, Larsen is already half way to her total number of blocked shots last season (24).Â
Keeping Up The Good Work
Erika Larsen is second in the conference with a .690 field-goal percentage, tied for second with two blocks per game, and is tied for ninth in the CCAA with an average of eight rebounds per game.
Stealing The CCAA
Currently Stan State leads the conference in steals per game. With an average of 14 steals per game, the Warriors are three steals ahead of Cal State San Bernardino, San Francisco State, and Sonoma State who all vie for second in the conference. Stan State has three players who are currently in the top 10 in the CCAA for steals; Zahria Hendriz in second with 4.7 steals per game, Caprina Pipion in fourth with 3.7 steals per game, and Kaitlin Dadalt tied for ninth with two steals per game.Â
Tough Competition
Cal State L.A.'s Rikke Fabricius is currently at the top of the conference in rebounds per game. Fabricius along with Cal Poly Pomona's Alyssa Benton share the lead with eight rebounds per game. She is also fourth in the CCAA with 21.5 points per game on average and fifth in the conference with a .882 free-throw percentage. Last season Fabricius was named first-team All-CCAA. Â
Back At Home
After traveling over the holiday week, the Warriors will be back on their home court for one week before spending nearly a month on the road. Statistically the Warriors perform much better at the Fitz than they do elsewhere, so far earning two wins in Turlock and only one win on away from home this season. Stan State is 24-15 from their home court over the past three seasons, and are 16-24 as the visitor. After this Saturday the Warriors will not play at Fitzpatrick Arena until Friday Dec. 29th.
Warrior Up-And-Comers
After finishing up preseason and diving into conference play it looks as though two Warrior freshmen have earned their way onto the starting lineup. Zahria Hendrix has started in all of Stan State's games so far, and Kyanna Davis has started in all but one Warrior matchup this season. Hendrix leads the Warriors in two categories with 21 assists and 21 steals. She is also second on the team behind Erika Larsen with 10.3 points per game ... Davis is tied for third on the team with eight offensive rebounds, is third on the team with seven assists, and is third on the team with 12 free-throws made.
