This Week's Opponents

Cal State Monterey Bay OTTERS (6-19, 3-15 CCAA)
Series Notes: The Warriors and Otters are 13-13 against each other since 2000. Last season Stan State beat the Otters at home, and lost to them in Monterey Bay.

Last Time We Met... was on Feb. 5 of last season at home. It was a low scoring game and the Warriors took home the win 47-44. Riley Holladay led the game with 13 points, and Ana Burch followed her scoring 12 points.

About the Otters: The Otters have been led this season by McKena Hill who averages 12.2 points per game ... Courtney Keaton leads Cal State Monterey Bay's rebounding efforts with an average of 6.9 rebounds per game ... As a team the Otters shoot 36.6 percent from the field on average.

Cal State East Bay Pioneers (17-8, 14-4 CCAA)
Series Notes: Overall Stan State has only played Cal State East Bay a total of 14 times since the Pioneers entered the CCAA in 2010. The Warriors have a 4-10 losing record against the Pioneers, beating them last in 2014.

Last Time We Met... was Feb. 6, 2016. Stan State was dominated by the Pioneers, losing 62-84.

About the PioneersShomari Harris leads the Pioneers' offense with 16.6 points per game, and she is also the leading scorer for the entire CCAA ... Morgan Greene is the second-best rebounder in the conference, and also the Pioneers' leader with 9.4 rebounds per game ... As a team the Pioneers shoot 41.4 percent from the field.

Beat Chico Again: Last week the Warriors defeated Chico State twice in a three-day period, and may have the opportunity to face them for the third time in less than two weeks in the first round of the conference tournament. The last time Stan State played a CCAA team three times in one season was against Cal State San Bernardino last year, winning once and losing twice to the Coyotes (The second loss occurred in the first round of the CCAA tournament). The Warriors have never beaten a CCAA team three times in one season, and could face the Wildcats again if they clinch the no. 2 seed going into the conference tournament.

The Big 1,000: This weekend Cassidy Sanders-Curry could reach a monumental milestone in her career as a Warrior. With 973 points to date, Sanders-Curry is only 27 points away from scoring 1,000 points in her career. A milestone that only four other Warriors (Shannon Donnelly, Katie Busi, Gwendolyn Page, and Lysandra Williams) have met before her.

Burch Is Back: As the end of the season approaches, senior Ana Burch is bringing out her A-game. Against the Chico State Wildcats on Saturday, Burch played one of her best games so far this season. She was the second highest point scorer for the Warriors with 17 points, and the highest rebounding member of her team with eight rebounds. Burch has scored 17 or more points only three other times this season, and has caught more than eight rebounds once when she rebounded nine shots at Sonoma State earlier this month. Burch also had three assists and two steals against the Wildcats on Saturday.

Conference Tournament: This weekend stands to be crucial for the Warriors postseason positioning. If the Warriors win at least one game over the weekend, they will secure a top four CCAA seeding and clinch the opportunity to host the first round of playoffs next Tuesday.

Playoff Seeding Possibilities: As of now Stan State could enter the conference tournament in one of four different positions. While the Warriors always hope for a 2-0 weekend, their fate relies not only in their own hands, but is also dependent on the results of a number of other CCAA games this weekend. The Warriors' seeding entering the conference tournament could be any of the following:

Warriors are the no. 2 seed with...
two wins this weekend.

Warriors are the no. 3 seed with...
one win or a  Cal Poly Pomona loss

Warriors are the no. 4 seed with...
two losses AND CPP wins twice AND Cal State San Bernardino loses at least once.

Warriors are the no. 5 seed with...
two losses AND CPP AND CSUSB each win twice.
