SERIES NOTES: The Warriors will match-up against Simon Fraser for the fourth time with the last meeting in 2014 (in Turlock). The SFU Clan has never scored on the Warriors as they were shutout, 3-0, 6-0 and 2-0 in the three previous meetings … Stan State holds a slight 4-3-1 advantage over Central Washington with a two-match winning streak. The Warriors are also undefeated 4-0-1 in the teams' last five meetings.
TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST: This is the first time the Warriors will cross the border into Canada since visiting Simon Fraser on Sept. 2, 2012 … The Warriors are familiar with the trip to Washington as they last made this trek in 2015 with matches at Saint Martin's (Lacey, Wash.) and Central Washington. In 2012, Stan State also played at Saint Martin's before driving up to Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, B.C … Stanislaus is 4-0 in these two previous trips.
SITE & TIME CHANGE: Due to wide-spread wild fires in central and eastern Washington, Sunday's match has been relocated and rescheduled. The match is now at 2 p.m. at Seattle Pacific's Interbay Stadium.
GOING FOR 200: In its 20th season in 2017, Stan State Women's Soccer is just two victories away from the program's 200th win (198-160-33).
JADE'S HAT-TRICKS: Senior forward Jade Poon scored three times Monday night in leading the Warriors to a thrilling 4-3 win over Notre Dame de Namur. It's the second time in her career that she recorded a hat-trick. Poon made her home debut as a Warrior freshman back on Sept. 8, 2014 by scoring three times in the team's 6-1 win over Central Washington. This happened after Poon missed the first 24 minutes of the contest because she was attending class … Monday's hat-trick is just the 10th time that any Warrior scored three times in a match (Karenee Demery did it five different times).
POON MOVES UP TO NO. 2: With 30 career goals, Jade Poon moved up to No. 2 on the Warriors' All-Time list, surpassing both Kirsten Coleman and Marti Teunissen (28). Only four-time All-American Karenee Demery had more goals with 75 … Poon is also third with 74 career points, four points away of tying Teunissen. Demery tallied 180 points.
TOP CCAA ROOKIE: Jenna Zuniga scored two goals and added an assist in the season's three matches, making her the points leader (5 points) among CCAA freshmen. She's also the only freshmen with two goals so far … The Warriors are known to have great freshmen players having earned the conference's freshman of the year two of the last three seasons. Jade Poon was the CCAA's top freshman in 2014 and last season Rayana Plancarte was named the freshman of the year.
TEAM DEPTH, BENCH MOB KEY TEAM SUCCESS: The team depth and talent level on the Bench Mob are already paying dividend for Stanislaus State. In Thursday's opener, the bench greatly contributed and accounted for all three goals against Southern Oregon. The reserves had five of the team's seven shots on goal and 13 of the 22 shots. "Our subs came off the bench and took over the game. We call our players on the bench the bench mob. That mentality prepares you for your moment and those players took advantage of their moment," said head coach Gabriel Bolton … The Bench Mob added a goal and two assists in Saturday's 3-0 win over Dominican (when 12 players came off the bench) and tallied two assists in Monday's match (10 subs were used).
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: Simon Fraser, the only NCAA Division II program outside of the U.S., is located in Burnaby, B.C. near Vancouver. The Clan is 2-0 with wins at Cal State East Bay (3-0) on Saturday and Cal State L.A. (2-1, 2OT) back home on Monday. Emma Pringle leads SFU with two goals and an assist. SFU is picked to finish fourth in the GNAC (Great Northwest Athletic Conference) preseason poll … Central Washington, a 2016 NCAA tournament team, is picked to finish second in the GNAC preseason poll. The Wildcats are currently 0-2 after their California road trip with losses to UC San Diego (2-1) and Cal State San Bernardino (2-1). Mackenzie Nolte and Emily Minogue each has a goal.
