Huge Win on the Road
The Warriors' 26-point win last Thursday at Cal State Monterey Bay was their biggest margin of victory in a CCAA game since Feb. 21, 2014 when they beat Cal State East Bay (92-61). That game was also on the road, in Hayward.
At the Half-Way Mark
Stan State has completed the first half of the CCAA schedule at 6-5 and in fifth place in the standings. They have enjoyed a 3-3 record in CCAA games at home and 3-2 on the road thus far … The Warriors are the only team to play 11 conference games … Stan State has six more conference games on the road and five at home (one at home the rest of January, on the 27th versus San Francisco State) remaining.
Tuesday Faniel
Twice this season Vida Faniel scored 20 or more points when playing on a Tuesday. Faniel netted 22 points on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Fresno Pacific where he made 10 of 10 free throws. A week later, at home, on Tuesday, Nov. 28 against Sonoma State, he scored a new career-high 23 points with eight rebounds (also a career high) … Faniel, however, missed the last two games due to a shoulder injury and his status this week is questionable.
Defensive Improvements
After allowing 90 or more points in consecutive games, the Warriors have turned it around defensively. In the last three games, they allowed an average of 66.3 points, including 57 to Cal State Monterey Bay — the second lowest total allowed this season (Cal State LA scored 52 on Dec. 2) … The team is fifth in the CCAA with 69.0 points allowed per conference game.
Consistent Cleaves
Andy Cleaves has been consistant lately, especially on offense. He has scored in double digits in six straight games (eight of last nine) and has already posted 12 double-digit scoring games this season … He has also made 18 consecutive free throws and is third in the CCAA with a 86.8 percentage (33-for-38 in conference games).Â

Caleb Made Baskets
Caleb Baskett got into the scoring mode last week, averaging 15 points per game and shot 54.1 percent from the floor. He scored 18 (two points shy of career-high) at Cal State Monterey Bay on 8 of 14 shooting with two three-pointers and followed it with 12 points on Saturday … Baskett also rebounded, pulling 13 boards — including back to back career-highs of 6 and 7 rebounds … prior to last week, Baskett averaged 6.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Gave Up the Long Shots
As a team, the Warriors have allowed a CCAA-most 115 three-pointers in 11 league games. Opponents are averaging 10.5 treys a game and shot 37.5 percent. The Warriors have allowed 12 or more three-pointers in four straight games.Â
Reversing the Trend
After a hot 9-2 start, the Warriors have found themselves in a three-game losing streak — all at home. The 2013-14 CCAA Championship team, which started the season 11-3, never lost three straight games that year.
