Joe Ryan has received his first West Region Pitcher of the Year nod. This one is from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

On Wednesday, the NCBWA announced the list of Division II All Region teams — one of three entities selecting baseball postseason awards.

Ryan, who was a five-time CCAA Pitcher of the Week and two-time West Region Pitcher of the Week selection, earns the award after a phenomenal season. He went 8-1 with a 1.65 ERA. His opponent batting average was .190, best among all starters in the CCAA. Ryan, who is considered a top prospective in the upcoming MLB Amateur Draft, led all of NCAA college (all Divisions) with 127 strikeouts, which is also a Stanislaus State single season record.

Wednesday night, Ryan was named Stanislaus State Male Athlete of the Year.

The NCBWA named Andrew Bash of California Baptist Player of the Year and Cal State Monterey Bay's Walt White Coach of the Year. Ryan is one of three starting pitchers on the First Team.

The D2CCA/CoSIDA All Region Team (selected by sports information directors) and the ABCA All Region Team (picked by baseball coaches) will be announced later this week.
