TURLOCK — A national champion and an all-time leading scorer in her sport highlight the newest induction class of the Stanislaus State Athletics Hall of Fame, to be introduced on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at the Main Dining Hall.
Seven individuals, including record holders, All-Americans, a student-athlete turned coach, as well as a long-time volunteer, will be added to the Warrior Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction is a part of the Homecoming week and Alumni Weekend on campus during the first week in February.
"It is my honor to welcome these Warriors into our Hall of Fame. When reading their impressive statistics, I was blown away at their accomplishments," said Director of Athletics
Terry Donovan. "The countless hours each inductee dedicated to the benefit of their teammates, the Athletics department, and our University is invaluable. With their indelible contributions, induction in this Hall of Fame Class of 2020 has been rightfully earned."
The induction class of 2020 will also be the guests of honor during the Feb. 8 basketball doubleheader at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena. They will be introduced to the public at halftime of the men's game when the Warriors host Cal Poly Pomona as Stanislaus State celebrates Homecoming and Alumni Week.
The following, listed in alphabetical order, are short biographies of the inductees:
Courtney Anderson, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field (2011-14)
Courtney Anderson won the 2014 NCAA Championship in the 1,500-meter run to cap off her tremendous Stanislaus State career. She was a four-time All-American in indoor and outdoor track & field and holds seven school records in these sports.
In 2014, Anderson was named the West Region Track Athlete of the Year after posting three All-Region marks. She was the CCAA champion in the 1,500 and was named the Stan State Female Athlete of the Year.
In cross country, Anderson was an All-CCAA finisher in 2012 and led the team to a NCAA National Championship appearance. She received the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club's Outstanding Female Athlete award in 2015.
Jennifer Arnold, Softball (2007-10)
Jennifer Arnold was part of the 2007 West Region Championship team, which was the program's first to appear in the NCAA National Championship tournament.
Arnold was a three-time All-West Region selection and a four-time All-CCAA honoree. She's on the Stan State top 10 lists 12 times as a slugger and seven times as a pitcher.
Arnold posted a .476 career slugging percentage with 189 hits, 35 doubles, 23 home runs and 114 RBI. Her 23 career home runs is the second most by a Warrior. As a pitcher, she posted 35 wins with 34 complete games and 192 strikeouts.
Karenee Demery, Women's Soccer (2010-13)
Karenee Demery was a four-time All-American and the 2013 NSCAA Player of the Year. In 2014, Demery was a top 30 finalist for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award.
A four-time All-Region selection, Demery scored 75 career goals with 30 assists for 180 points with 29 game winning goals — all of them Stanislaus State records.
She was a four-time All-CCAA first team pick, including being named the CCAA Freshman of the Year (2010) and the CCAA Player of the Year (2013). Demery led the Warriors to two CCAA Championships in 2011 and 2013.
Demery was named the Stan State Female Athlete of the Year three times and received the Warrior Athletics Career Achievement Award in 2013-14.
Stan Gustafson, Volunteer/Community Member
Stan Gustafson has been a volunteer for Warrior Athletics for nearly 30 years. He started in 1992, serving as an assistant to women's basketball head coach LeAnn Millar. He performed various duties with the team, such as coach, mentor and van driver.
After Millar's retirement, he remained a valuable member of the game-day staff volunteering as the public address announcer and shot-clock & game-clock operator. He has also performed the National Anthem prior to games countless times.
Gustafson can be seen during team practices as one of the top supporters of both the men's and women's basketball programs.
Reggie Jones, Men's Basketball (2010-12)
Reggie Jones was a NABC first team All-American in 2011-12 after averaging 19.1 points per game. In two seasons as a Warrior, he tallied 891 points, 306 rebounds and 72 blocked shots.
The two-time All-CCAA first team selection is on five different single season top 10 lists, include second in blocked shots with 41 in a season.
He was named the Stan State co-Male Athlete of the Year in 2012 and was named the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club's Outstanding Male Athlete in 2013.
Kyle Loretelli, Baseball (2007-09)
Kyle Loretelli was one of the best hitters in program history. A 2009 Major League Baseball 38
th round draft pick, Loretelli holds two Stan State career records and five single season records.
The two-time All-Region selection is in the record books' top 10 lists a total of 27 times with 18 marks among single season bests and nine career stats categories.
Loretelli is the record holder with 26 home runs and 42 doubles in a career. In single season records, he holds top marks with 28 doubles, 142 total bases, a.477 on-base percentage with 60 games and 58 starts.
Diljeet Taylor, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field, Coach (2000-2003, 2007-16)
As a student-athlete Diljeet Dosanjh Taylor was a three-time All-American in outdoor and indoor track & field. She's a CCAA Champion in the 1,500-meter and a five-time All-CCAA winner. Taylor is the indoor track record holder in the 800-meter and is on the top 10 lists three times in the 800, 1500 and 3,000-meter outdoor races.
As a coach, from 2007 to 2016, Taylor coached 12 All-Americans including the 2014 National Champion Courtney Anderson and runner-up Marina Vorderbruegge in the 1500-meter. A total of 11 Warriors were CCAA Champions in distance events under her guidance.
She led the women's cross country team to a NCAA Championship appearance in 2013 and her 2012 team finished a program-best fourth at NCAA West Regionals.
