Academically, Stanislaus State student-athletes have continued to excel in the classrooms. Despite the cancelation of spring sports during the pandemic, Warrior Athletics students have elevated their overall grade point averages, collectively.
Â
"Once again, I am amazed by the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes with support of our coaches and staff. We aim for a championship experience. Win in the community. Win in competition and win in the classroom," said
Terry Donovan, Director of Athletics. "While we had tremendous accomplishments in competition, our student-athletes also clearly won in the classroom during the 19-20 academic year."  Â
Â
Of the 13 athletics teams — women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams are grouped as one — the following accolades were accomplished during the 2019-20 academic year:
- Eight teams posted their highest team grade-point-average since we began tracking the data in 2015: Baseball, Men's Golf, Men's Soccer, Men's Cross Country, Men's Track & Field, Women's Basketball, Volleyball and Women's Cross Country.
- 11 teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or better: Baseball, Men's Golf, Men's Cross Country, Men's Track & Field, Women's Basketball, Softball, Women's Soccer, Women's Tennis, Volleyball, Women's Cross Country and Women's Track & Field.
- Collectively, student-athletes posted a 3.215 GPA, the highest according to our records.
- The Warriors posted a 3.345 GPA for the spring 2020 term, when most the semester was completed by remote learning. It is the highest GPA recorded for a single semester.
"Many of our students had to work longer hours, move home, take care of family members along with learning a new method of instruction in the middle of the semester. I am so proud of the hard work and effort our student-athletes put into finishing this semester stronger than ever," said
Alissa Aragon, Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development. "Through the canceling of competition to the suspension of the fall season our students persevered and kept their eyes on the ultimate goal of graduation."
Â
Additionally, the graduation rate for student-athletes (for cohort year 2013-14) is 63 percent, which is higher than the general campus population (59 percent). The athletic academic success rate — student-athletes graduating within six years of initial enrollment — is 74 percent, up from 71 percent the previous year.
