TURLOCK, Calif. — With his times of 10.50 in the 100 meters and 21.11 in the 200 meters, which he ran at the West Coast Relays in Clovis, Calif., Stan State's Andrew Bishop has punched his ticket to the 2026 USA Track and Field U20 Outdoor Championships, set for June 18–19 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Bishop met the automatic qualifying standards in both events, hitting the 10.50 standard in the 100 meters and surpassing the 21.25 standard in the 200 meters. His performance in the 200 meters also provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Championships and moves him into a tie for No. 3 all-time in Stan State history, matching his ranking in the 100 meters.
"Great achievement by Andrew, he's having a great season thus far and is deserving of this opportunity," said head coach Troy Johnson. "It's a goal for him to make the U20 World Team and this is a step towards its fruition."
The freshman sprinter also played a key role in one of the top relay performances in program history, helping lead the Stan State 4x100 relay to a school-record time of 40.57, which meets the NCAA provisional qualifying standard and ranks among the top times in Division II this season.
Bishop now turns his attention to the national meet with aspirations beyond, as he looks to qualify for the World Athletics U20 Championships, scheduled for August 5–9, 2026, also at Hayward Field. The international competition will feature the top U20 athletes from around the world as they compete for global titles.
A native of Sacramento, Calif., Bishop has quickly established himself as one of the top young sprinters in the region, with multiple all-time marks and national-level performances during his debut outdoor season.
The 100-meter and 200-meter events will take place during the two-day championship meet at Hayward Field, featuring some of the top U20 athletes in the country.
