CHICO, Calif. – The Sophomore Outside Hitter from Utah did what she needed to do, leading her team in scoring in back-to-back matches against nationally ranked competition. Finishing with 32 kills and 22 digs for the weekend, Weaver's clutch double-double performance over #13 Cal State San Bernardino was more than enough to receive CCAA recognition.
The Warriors started their weekend with a tough match against #18 Cal Poly Pomona. In the effort, Weaver finished with 14 kills and 6 digs on .243 hitting. The very next day, Stan State was matched up against the #13 'Yotes and managed to pull off the upset win. The victory marked the team's second time beating a #13 ranked opponent in school history, while Weaver put up a career-high of 18 kills and 16 digs to go with three service aces. To put the icing on the cake, Ellison blasted the final match point to seal the deal on a five-set slugfest.
Weaver's weekend numbers rounded out with 3.55 kills per set and 35.5 total points on a .270 hitting percentage. She will look to keep these numbers up in the coming weeks of the Warriors' final stretch of regular season matches.
