LAST MATCH: Stan State split their weekend home matches 1-1 against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA with a 3-0 win on Friday and a 0-3 loss on Saturday.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: The Warriors' record now sits at 19-9 overall and 10-8 in the conference. They finished the regular season with a 7-4 home record at the Fitz and an 8-5 record on the road. They are currently tied for most wins in program history with the 2002 Stan State team and already have the best winning percentage in program history (.556). This also marks the team's fifth championship appearance, the most recent dating back to 2019. They have officially clinched the sixth and final spot in the CCAA playoffs and will face Cal Poly Pomona in the opening round of the tournament.
AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: After playing the waiting game during Saturday night's Cal State San Bernardino vs. San Francisco State, a 3-2 'Yotes victory helped the Warriors jump up a spot in the playoff rankings to secure the final seed in tournament play. The senior class of
Macky Morris,
Natasha Mich,
Cassie Corbett, and
Penelope Zepeda also holds the most wins of any graduating class in Stan State history.
BRONCOS IN REVIEW: #23 Cal Poly Pomona is ranked third in the CCAA coming into the postseason, only below the nationally ranked #18 Cal State LA and #15 San Bernadino teams. They ended their regular season with an 18-5 record. While they've only seen the Warriors once this season, the Broncos took a 3-1 victory on the road back in October. They lead the conference in hitting percentage (.274), digs per set (15.67), blocks per set (2.64), and are 3
rd in assists per set (12.17). Junior Daisy Duke and Sophomore Madison Novak have made waves on the offensive end, while Sophomore Catie Mueller and Junior Kaitlan Tucker have been top-10 in assists and blocks in the CCAA.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors are 6-20 against the Broncos dating back to 2007. The last Stan State win over Pomona was back in 2019 that resulted in a 3-0 sweep on the road.
