TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors will conclude their season long five-game home stand this week with a pair of CCAA games against nationally ranked Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona. The Warriors will entertain No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino this Thursday, January 12 at 7:30pm. Stan State will conclude its home stand this Saturday afternoon, January 14 when the Warriors host Cal Poly Pomona at 3pm.
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: The Warriors are 5-9 overall and 3-6 in the CCAA after splitting its two games last week. Stan State is averaging 65.3 points per game while giving up 70.9 points per game. The Warriors are being outrebounded 35.1 to 32.7. Two players are averaging double digits in scoring in
Kobe Ordonio (14.1 ppg) and
Marlon Short (13.9 ppg). Short is tied for the team lead in rebounding with
Travion Williams each at 6.1 rebounds per game. He leads the team with his seven blocked shots.
Benno Zecic has dished out a team high 90 assists and is tied with Ordonio for the team lead with steals with 24.
Noel Alexander Jr. leads the team with his 76% shooting from the field while Short is shooting a team high 80% from the charity stripe.
Will Pallesi has made a team high 27 three-point field goals while connecting on a team leading 36.5% of those attempts.
LAST GAME: The Warriors went 1-1 last weekend defeating Cal State East Bay 68-58 and losing 68-56 to Cal State Dominguez Hills. In their victory over East Bay,
Marlon Short recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a 19-point, 10-rebound performance. Jermaine Jones added 13 points off the bench while
Kobe Ordonio also had 13 points and
Will Pallesi scored 10 points. In their loss to CSUDH, Short paced the Warriors with 15 points while
Travion Williams scored a career high 10 points.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Marlon Short and
Benno Zecic each have recorded double-doubles this season for the Warriors. Short has four this season including this past Thursday against Cal State East Bay (19 points, 10 rebounds). He also recorded double-doubles at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday (18-points, 10-rebounds), Academy of Art (Nov. 22, 21-points, 10-rebounds) and at Chico State (Nov. 26, 16 points, 10-rebounds). For his career, Short has seven double-doubles. Zecic recorded his first double-double of the season in the Warriors' game on December 1 against Cal State San Marcos. The Alameda native scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists for Stan State.
MOVIN' ON UP: Benno Zecic is currently sixth on the Warriors all-time career list with 232 assists. He is 17 from moving past Ira Taylor'03 into fifth place. Ty Davis holds the all-time record with 380. Zecic has 90 assists this season and his 11 assists versus Academy of Art is tied for seventh on the single game list.
TOP HALF IN THE CCAA: As a team, Stan State is in the top half of the conference in six individual statistical categories. The Warriors are fourth in three-point field goal percentage defense, fifth in scoring defense, steals and turnover margin while they are sixth in assists and assist/turnover ratio.

YOTES IN REVIEW: Cal State San Bernardino enters its game on Monday evening with a 10-1 overall record and a 5-1 CCAA record. The 12
th ranked Coyotes are averaging 85.9 points per game while giving up 67.6 points per game. The Yotes are outrebounding their opponents 45 to 28.7. Four players are averaging double digits in scoring in Brandon Knapper (20.1 ppg), Dontrell Shuler (16.9 ppg), Eddie Davis (12.7 ppg) and Darius Mickens (10.0 ppg). Knapper leads the team with his 51 assists and 86.7% shooting from the line. Mickens is averaging a team high 8.0 rebounds per game while Mahmoud Fofana is shooting a team high 69.2% from the field. Leading the team with his 39 three-point field goals made is Knapper while Shuler has made a team high 40% of his attempts from beyond the arc. Fofana has blocked a team high nine shots and Mickens has recorded a team high 21 steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State San Bernardino leads the all-time series with the Warriors 21-8. The Yotes have won the last four meetings including the last meeting last season 54-45 in Turlock on February 3.
Marlon Short paced the Warriors with 13 points and 10 rebounds while
Benno Zecic added 10 points. The last Warrior win was on February 23, 2019 in San Bernardino, 97-88.
BRONCOS IN REVIEW: Entering their game on Thursday at Chico State, Cal Poly Pomona Broncos are 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA. The Broncos are averaging 70 points per game while giving up 68.6 points per game. They are outrebounding their opponents 37.9 to 37.0. Christopher Mitchell leads the way with his 12.5 scoring average. Jaden Winfield is averaging a team leading 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting a team high 51% from the field. Derrick Clayton has made a team high 15 three-point field goals and connected on a team high 48.4% of his attempts from beyond the arc. Bam Johnson has made a team leading 76.3% of his attempts from the charity stripe. Shyhelm Parm leads the team with his 29 assists and 17 steals while Caleb Nelson has blocked a team high nine shots.
