TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will continue its season beginning six-game road trip this week with three non-conference games in the North Bay. The Warriors will travel to San Rafael, Calif., this Tuesday, Nov. 14 for a 7:30pm scheduled game with Dominican (Calif.). After Tuesday, Stan State will continue north on 101 to participate in the Ron Logsdon Basketball Challenge (presented by Cambria Hotel Sonoma Wine Country) in Rohnert Park, Calif. The Warriors will face Western Oregon on Friday, Nov. 17 at 5pm. They will conclude their week with a 4pm scheduled game with the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, Nov. 18. Both games will take place in The Wolves' Den on the campus of Sonoma State University.
WARRIORS: Stan State enters this week 1-1 after its two games at the PacWest/CCAA Challenge in San Diego. The Warriors are averaging 67.5 points per game as are their opponents. They are outrebounding their opponents 40.5 to 40.0. Stan State is shooting 38.3% from the field, 24.5% from three-point land, and 70% from the line. The Warriors are holding their opponents to just 39.6% shooting from the field and 36.87% from beyond the arc. They are forcing 16.5 turnovers per game while recording 10.0 steals per game.
John Wade III leads the team with his 13.5 scoring average, 50% shooting from three-point land, seven assists, and seven steals. Wade is tied with
Daniel Ameyaw for the team lead in rebounding at 6.0 rebounds per game. Ameyaw is averaging 9.0 rebounds per game while blocking a team high three shots.
Micah Boone is shooting a team high 71.4% from the field and
Jonathan Tchengang is a perfect four-for-four from the charity stripe.
STAN STATE HEAD COACH PAUL TREVOR: Coach Trevor enters his seventh year as the head coach at Stan State and 14
th year overall coaching. He is 172-157 in his fourteen years including 54-60 on the sidelines in Turlock. During his 14-year coaching career, Trevor has coached 27 All-CCAA honorees including eight First Team selections and one CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Two players have been named to the preseason All-American Teams with one receiving All-American honors and three All-Region honors. In 2016-17 at SF State, he guided the Gators the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in 23 years and he was named the NABC West Region Co-Coach of the Year while the Gators were ranked No. 22 in the end of the season national NABC rankings.
LAST WEEK IN SAN DIEGO: The Warriors split their two games in the PacWest/CCAA Challenge this weekend in San Diego. They lost 82-79 in overtime to No. 11 Point Loma Friday with Jon Wade II leading the way with 17 points followed by
Dontrell Hewlett's 16 points. Wade had seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals to go with his 17 points. The Warriors outrebounded the Sea Lions 49-41 and their bench outscored Point Loma 36-8.
Stan State finished the week with a 56-53 win over Fresno Pacific Saturday. The Warriors outscored the Sunbirds 9-2 in the final 90 seconds including Wade and
Jonathan Tchengang going a combined four-for-four from the line down the stretch.
Daniel Ameyaw had a career high 12 points and tied his career high with seven rebounds to lead the way for Stan State. Wade and
Micah Boone each chipped in 10 points. Once again, Stan State's bench outscored its opponents this time 46-14.
WHAT A SEASON DEBUT: Junior transfer
John Wade III averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals in the Warriors' first two games of the 2023-24 season. He shot 37% from the field but went four-of-eight from beyond the arc. Wade also had a blocked shot and went three-for-five from the line. He started the week with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals to go with his team high 17 points at No. 11 Point Loma. Wade finished the week scoring 10 points including two crucial free throws in the Warriors' victory over Fresno Pacific.
CAREER NIGHT: Daniel Ameyaw scored a career high 12 points to lead the way for Stan State in its 56-53 victory over Fresno Pacific on Saturday. He tied his career high with seven rebounds while shooting 6-for-10 from the field, blocking a shot, and dishing out an assist in 29 minutes off the bench.
RANKED IN THE CCAA: Stan State is in the half of the conference in ten team statistical categories including leading the CCAA with its 14.0 offensive rebounds per game average. The Warriors are second in rebounding average (40.5) and defensive rebounding (26.5) while they are third in steals per game (10.0) and tied for third in blocked shots per game (3.5). Stan State is fifth in field goal percentage defense (39.6%), three's made per game (6.5), free throw percentage (70.0%), and turnover margin (+4.0). The Warriors are sixth with their 11.0 assists per game average.
John Wade III is first in the CCAA with his 3.5 steals per game average, sixth in three-point field goal percentage (50%), and eighth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.8).
Daniel Ameyaw is tied for second in blocked shots per game (1.5).
DOMINICAN: The Penguins, out of the PacWest, enter their game on Tuesday evening with Stan State with a 0-2 record. They lost 59-55 to SF State and 69-57 to Sonoma State in a tournament at SF State. Dominican is averaging 56.0 points per game while giving up 64.0 points per game. The Penguins are being outrebounded 29.0 to 26.5. Dale Currie leads the team with his 12.0 points per game average, 50% shooting from three-point land, 100% shooting from the line, and four assists. Marcus McCutcheon leads Dominican with his 4.5 rebounding average while Kingdom Artis has recorded a team high six steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The all-time series is tied at 5-5 between Stan State and Dominican. The Penguins won 72-61 in Turlock last season on Nov. 15, 2022, behind Garrett Seibel's 20 points (seven-for-seven shooting from the field including four-for-four from three-point land).
Tony Singleton had 17 points for the Warriors. Stan State defeated the Penguins 61-45 in San Rafael on Nov. 20, 2021, with Singleton scoring 12 points.
WESTERN OREGON: The Wolves, out of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), are 0-2 entering their home opener on Tuesday against Multnomah. They lost 93-71 to No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino and 99-92 in overtime to Cal State Monterey Bay in a tournament in San Bernardino. Western Oregon is averaging 81.5 points per game while giving up 96.0 points per game. The Wolves are being outrebounded 44.5 to 30.0. They are shooting 46% from the field including 39% from three-point land. Five players are averaging double digits in scoring in Jason Gallant (19.0 ppg), Mekhi McIntyre (14.0 ppg), Qiant Myers (13.0 ppg), Kris Cook (10.5 ppg), and Cameron Benzel (10.0 ppg). Benzel leads the team with his 6.0 rebounding average and two blocked shots. McIntyre is shooting 73% from the field and 80% from three-point land. Myers leads WOU with his 16 assists and 85.7% shooting from the charity stripe while Cook has recorded a team leading four steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Western Oregon leads the all-time series 2-0 including defeating the Warriors 83-77 in Rohnert Park on Nov. 18, 2022. Cameron Benzel paced the Wolves with a game high 19 points and was one of four players to score in double digits for WOU.

SIOUX FALLS: The Cougars, from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, enter Friday's game with Sonoma State 0-2. They lost 82-80 to Washburn and 67-66 to Pittsburg State in the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City, Mo. Sioux Falls is averaging 73.0 points per game while giving up 74.5 points per game. The Cougars are outrebounded their opponents 37 to 35. Five players are averaging double digits in scoring in Kenji Scales (14.5 ppg), Creighton Morisch (14.5 ppg), Shawn Warrior (12.0 ppg), Noah Puetz (11.5 ppg), and Jack Thompson (10.0 ppg). Morisch is averaging 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting a team high 78.6% from the field. Scales leads the team with his 41.7% shooting from three-point land, seven assists, and three steals. Puetz has connected on a team high 80% of his attempts from the charity stripe.
