TURLOCK, Calif.--- After starting their 2023-24 regular with six games on the road, Stan State will host its home and CCAA openers with a pair of games at The Fitz this Thursday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 2. The Warriors will entertain Cal State East Bay this Thursday at 7:30pm. The first 100 Warrior fans will receive a Schedule Poster. Stan State will end its week with a 3pm scheduled tip-off with San Francisco State this Saturday.
WARRIORS: Stan State enters its two-game home stand with a 3-3 record. The Warriors are averaging 68.2 points per game while giving up 70.2 points per game. They are outr-ebounding their opponents 39.5 to 38.7. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in
Dontrell Hewlett (12.3 ppg),
John Wade III (11.2 ppg), and
Micah Boone (10.7 ppg).
Daniel Ameyaw leads the team with his 52.6% shooting from the field, 6.7 rebounding average, and seven blocked shots.
Tony Singleton leads the team with his 13 treys made while Boone is shooting a team high 39.1% from three-point range. Wade has dished out a team high 16 assists to go with his team leading 12 steals.
STAN STATE HEAD COACH PAUL TREVOR: Coach Trevor enters his seventh year as the head coach at Stan State and 14
th year overall coaching. He is 174-159 in his fourteen years including 67-73 on the sidelines in Turlock. During his 14-year coaching career, Trevor has coached 27 All-CCAA honorees including eight First Team selections and one CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Two players have been named to the preseason All-American Teams with one receiving All-American honors and three All-Region honors. In 2016-17 at SF State, he guided the Gators the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in 23 years and he was named the NABC West Region Co-Coach of the Year while the Gators were ranked No. 22 in the end of the season national NABC rankings.
LAST TIME: Stan State lost 81-72 on Wednesday before Thanksgiving to Academy of Art in San Francisco. Five players scored in double digits led by
Micah Boone's 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Dontrell Hewlett added 15 points while
John Wade III and
Tony Singleton each chipped in 11 points.
Daniel Ameyaw added 10 points for Stan State.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double as a Warrior in Stan State's 82-77 victory over Western Oregon in Rohnert Park, Nov. 17. Ameyaw was four-for-seven from the field and two-for-three from the charity stripe. He grabbed four offensive and six defensive rebounds to go with his five assists, two steals, and one assist.
WARRIORS' BENCH: In every game this season, the Warriors' bench has outscored their opponents. Point Loma (36-8), Fresno Pacific (46-14), Dominican (47-9), Western Oregon (35-13), Sioux Falls (35-11), and Academy of Art (40-13).
BOONE: Micah Boone has scored in double figures in four of the Warriors' first six games including a season high 18 points at Academy of Art. This season, Boone is averaging 10.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He is shooting 48.7% from the field including 39.1% from three-point land. The red-shirt sophomore is 17-for-20 from the line to go with his four assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.
RANKED IN THE CCAA: As a team, the Warriors are leading the CCAA in three-point field goal percentage defense (28.4%) and are second in rebounding (39.5 rpg), and defensive rebounding (27.7). They are third in field goal percentage defense (40.9%) and offensive rebounding (11.8 rpg). Stan State is fifth in steals per game (8.17) and free throw percentage (75.3%) and sixth in three-point field goals made per game (7.0).
John Wade III is second in steals per game (2.4), total steals (12), fourth in total assists (16), seventh in assists per game (3.2), and tenth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.2).
Daniel Ameyaw is second in total blocked shots (seven), third in total rebounds (40), sixth in blocked shots per game (1.2), and eighth in rebounding (6.7).
Tony Singleton is tied for sixth in three's made per game (2.2) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (38.2%).
Micah Boone is fourth with his 85% free throw percentage.
CAL STATE EAST BAY: The Pioneers enter their game 3-2 after defeating Alaska 76-52 at home on Nov. 25. They are averaging 67.8 points per game while giving up 62.6 points per game. CSUEB is being out-rebounded 36 to 33. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Grady Lewis (14.0 ppg), Dimitrios Klonaras (13.8 ppg), and Tyree Campbell (11.4 ppg). Lewis leads the team with his 62.7% shooting from the field and 8.5 rebounding average. Chris James has dished out a team high 12 assists while Klonaras has recorded a team leading 11 steals. Payden White leads the team with his 42.1% shooting from three-point land and eight treys made while Klonaras is shooting a team high 77.8% from the line.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series with Cal State East Bay 23-11 with the teams splitting the series last year. The Warriors won 68-58 in Turlock on Jan. 5 with Jermaine Jones scoring 13 points. Cal State East Bay won 66-63 in Hayward on Jan. 28.
SAN FRANCISCO STATE: SF State enters its game on Thursday at No. 5 Chico State with a 4-1 record after defeating Pacific Union 122-60. The Gators are averaging 76.8 points per game while giving up 62.6 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 37.4 to 30.2. Three Gators are averaging double figures in Jonah Roth (13.8 ppg), Jallen Daniel-Dalton (12.4 ppg), and Tyjean Burrell (11.6 ppg). Roth is shooting a team high 51% from the field with his team high six blocked shots. Burrell has connected on a team high eleven treys and a team high 45.8% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He also leads the team with his 11 assists and 81.8% shooting from the line.
ALL-TIME SERIES: SF State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 16-12 including winning the last four meetings. The Gators won both meetings last season 67-63 in San Francisco and 80-64 in Turlock. The last Warrior win was on February 15, 2020, an 81-79 victory in Turlock.

UP NEXT: After two game home stand this week, Stan State will return to the road for a pair of CCAA games in Los Angeles, Dec. 7-9. The Warriors will be in Carson for a 7:30pm tip-off with Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday, Dec. 7. They will travel to Los Angeles for a 3pm scheduled game with Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday, Dec. 9. Stan State will have two more games before the end of the 2023 calendar year.
