Stan State to Host Cal Poly Humboldt in First Round of the CCAA Women’s Soccer Championships

TURLOCK, Calif.---  By defeating Chico State 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in Chico, Stan State qualified for the 2023 CCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the fourth straight time.  The Warriors are the fourth seed and will host the fifth seed Cal Poly Humboldt this Sunday, November 5 at noon at Warrior Stadium in the First Round of the CCAA Tournament.   
  
 2-0 VICTORY: The Warriors recorded their seventh shutout of the season in their 2-0 regular season finale victory at Chico State on Thursday afternoon.  Alexis Brewah scored both of Stan State's goals.  The first came in the 16thminute on a double assist by Makeila Yancey and Aliah Avilla.  Her second goal was unassisted in the 58th minute.  Malia Allen had two saves in goal for the Warriors for her fifth shutout of the season.
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State finished the regular season with a 8-5-5 record including a 5-2-4 which placed them in three-way tie for fourth place with Cal Poly Humboldt and Chico State.  Alexis Brewah leads the team with her eight goals, nine assists, 25 points, and three game-winning goals.  Aliah Avilla is second on the team with her two goals, six assists, and ten points followed by Haylee Heffner with four goals, one assist, and nine points.  Marivic Lek-Miro is fourth with her eight points with three goals and two assists followed by Kayla Perez with seven points (three goals, one assist).  Makeila Yancey and Sunny Mancilla each have three assists.  The other four other game-winning goals were scored by Lek-Miro, Perez, Amber Pon, and Alisha Garcia.  Malia Allen has a 0.61 goals against average with 48 saves, .889 saves percentage, and five shutouts in 12 matches.  Natalia Ochoa has a 1.72 goals against average in 10 matches with 35 saves and a .714 saves percentage.  

200:  In the Warriors' 2-0 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills, nineteenth-year head coach Gabriel Bolton recorded his 200th career win on the sidelines for Stan State Warrior women's soccer.  He is 202-109-42 in his career at Stan State.  
 
Last season, the Warriors went 10-4-4 overall and 7-2-2 in the CCAA and were CCAA co-regular season champions.  Alexis Brewah was the 2022 CCAA Newcomer of the Year and Sabrina Cabrera was the CAA Midfielder of the Year.  Brewah and Cabrera each were named to the First Team All-CCAA and the All-Region Team.  Four Warriors were selected to the Honorable Mention Team in Alexia EstradaSummer EnglandSunny Mancilla, and Jocelyn Lopez.  In 2013, Bolton was named the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year and the CCAA Coach of the Year.  He is the Warriors Women's Soccer All-Time Winningest Coach. 
 
Bolton has guided the Warriors to nine postseason appearances, including four NCAA Tournaments and nine California Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournaments. He led the program to an unprecedented seven consecutive post-season appearances from 2010-16, including two CCAA Tournament titles and the 2014 NCAA West Region Championship.
 
CCAA WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE:  The first round is set for November 5 at the sites of the number three and fourth seeded teams.  The semifinals and final matches will be November 10 and 12 at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside, Calif., on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay.

HONOR:  Malia Allen was named the Pixellot/CCAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Warriors' matches at Cal Poly Humboldt and against Sonoma State, October 12 and 15. Allen played a key role in Stan State's 1-0-1 weekend against the Lumberjacks and Seawolves.  She started the week as she faced 25 shots and recorded ten saves in the Warriors' scoreless draw at Cal Poly Humboldt on October 12 in Arcata, Calif.  This was Allen's first shutout in a Stan State uniform.  
 
CCAA STATS:  Alexis Brewah leads the CCAA with her nine assists and 0.50 assists per game average.  She has a league leading 25 points and 1.39 points per game average.  Brewah is tied for second with her three game-winning goals and tied for first with her eight goals and .444 goals per game average.  
 
NATIONALLY RANKED: Malia Allen is seventh in the nation with her .842 saves percentage and 32nd with her .61 goals against average.  Alexis Brewah is 11th with her nine assists and 24th with her 0.50 assists per game average.  
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Alexis Brewah is tied for eighth on the Warriors' top ten list in career goals with 18, she tied for fifth with 18 career assists, and sixth with 54 career points.  Malia Allen is tied for eighth with five shutouts.  Brewah is two goals from moving into the top ten on the single season list and she is tied for fifth with her nine assists on the single season list. Her 25 points ties for tenth on the single season list.  Malia Allen is third in the CCAA with her .609 goals against average, sixth with her five shutouts, tied for first with her .889 saves percentage, and third with her 4.00 saves per game average. 
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Cal Poly Humboldt finished its regular season with a 12-4-2 overall record and a 6-4-1 CCAA record which placed them in a three-way tie for fourth place with Stan State and Chico State.  The qualified for the CCAA's with a 2-0 win at Sonoma State on Thursday afternoon.  Emilia Long leads the way for Humboldt with her eight goals, five assists, and 21 points.  Frida Duran Arellano is next on the Jacks with her six goals, four assists, ten points, and team leading three game-winning goals.  Emma McChristie is third on the team with her four goals, two assists, and ten points.  Carson Thomson-Terrel has a 0.68 goals against average in 18 matches with 64 saves, ten shutouts, and a .842 saves percentage.  
 
LAST TIME:  The two teams played to a scoreless draw at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata on October 12.  Malia Allen had ten saves in goal for the Warriors with Carson Thomson-Terrel with five saves.  Humboldt out-shot the Warriors 25-11 including 10-5 in shot on goal attempts.  The Jacks had a 4-3 corner kick advantage.    
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series 19-6-2 with the last two matches being ties 0-0 this season and 1-1 in 2022 with both matches being played in Arcata.  Stan State last defeated the Jacks 2-0 in 2021 in Turlock
