TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will finish off the 2023 Calendar Year with two road games including a CCAA game at Cal State Monterey Bay on New Year's Eve. The Warriors will return to the court on Monday, December 18 for a 7pm exhibition game with the University of the Pacific. After the Holiday Break, the Warriors will return to conference action in Seaside for a 3pm scheduled game with Cal State Monterey Bay on New Year's Eve.
WARRIORS: Stan State is 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA. The Warriors are averaging 70.1 points per game while giving up 73.3 points per game. They are outrebounding their opponents 38.9 to 36.7. The trio of
John Wade III,
Dontrell Hewlett, and
Tony Singleton are averaging double digits in scoring. Wade is averaging 13.3 points per game followed by Hewlett at 12.5 and Singleton at 10.2.
Daniel Ameyaw leads the team with his 8.5 rebounding average, ten blocked shots, and 55.2% shooting from the field. Singleton has made a team leading 27 treys and is shooting a team high 86.7% from the charity stripe.
Will Chavarin leads the team with his 53% shooting from three-point land. Wade has recorded a team high 17 steal and dished out a team leading 27 assists.
STAN STATE HEAD COACH PAUL TREVOR: Coach Trevor enters his seventh year as the head coach at Stan State and 14
th year overall coaching. He is 175-162 in his fourteen years including 68-76 on the sidelines in Turlock. During his 14-year coaching career, Trevor has coached 27 All-CCAA honorees including eight First Team selections and one CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Two players have been named to the preseason All-American Teams with one receiving All-American honors and three All-Region honors. In 2016-17 at SF State, he guided the Gators the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in 23 years and he was named the NABC West Region Co-Coach of the Year while the Gators were ranked No. 22 in the end of the season national NABC rankings.
BEGINNING OF FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP: Stan State went 0-2 to begin its calendar year ending four-game road trip. The Warriors lost 65-63 at Cal State Dominguez Hills and 95-83 at Cal State Los Angeles. They averaged 73 points per game while gave up 80 points per game. Stan State outrebounded its two opponents 42 to 29.5.
Tony Singleton averaged 18.0 points per game while shot 50% from threes including connecting on 11 of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Daniel Ameyaw averaged 12.5 rebounds per game and shot 63.6% from the field. Wade and Singleton each had a team high six assists and Singleton recorded a team leading four steals.
TRIO OF DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double as a Warrior in Stan State's 82-77 victory over Western Oregon in Rohnert Park, Nov. 17. Ameyaw was four-for-seven from the field and two-for-three from the charity stripe. He grabbed four offensive and six defensive rebounds to go with his five assists, two steals, and one assist. His second double-double came in the Warriors' win over SF State in which he had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ameyaw's third double-double came in the Warriors' 95-83 loss at Cal State Los Angeles. He scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
NATIONALLY RANKED: Daniel Ameyaw and
Tony Singleton each are ranked in the nation in three statistical categories. Ameyaw is 19
th with his 85 total rebounds and 27
th with his three double-doubles. Singleton is 23
rd with his 27 treys made.
RANKED IN THE CCAA: Stan State is leading the CCAA in offensive rebounding with its 11.7 rebounds per game average. The Warriors are third in defensive rebounding (27.2 rpg) and rebounding (38.9). they are fourth in free throw percentage (72.1%) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage defense (31.5%), threes made per game (8.0), rebounding margin (+2.2), and blocked shots per game (3.0).
John Wade III is third in the league in steals (17), fourth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.1), and fifth in assists per game (3.0), total assists (27), and steals per game (1.9).
Daniel Ameyaw is second in total rebounds (85), tied for second in rebounding average (8.5), tied for second in total blocked shots (ten), and fifth in blocked shots per game (1.0).
Tony Singleton is leading the CCAA in total treys (27) and treys per game (2.7) while he is second in three-point field goal percentage (40.3%).
PACIFIC: The Tigers are 4-7 overall after losing their last four games in row including 89-56 at Fresno State this Saturday. They will host UC Davis this Saturday prior to hosting Stan State Monday, Dec. 17. UOP is averaging 64.4 points per game while giving up 76.9 points per game. The Tigers are being outrebounded 35.3 to 28.8. Judson Martindale leads the way with his 11.0 scoring average, 16 treys made, 32.7% shooting from three-point land, and 82% shooting from the line. Cam Denson is averaging a team leading 4.8 rebounds per game to go with his 58% shooting from the field. Moe Odum has dished out a team leading 47 assists while Donovan Williams has recorded a team high 13 steals.

CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY: The Otters are 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA. They have lost their last three games in a row in Cal State East Bay (82-76 overtime), Cal State Los Angeles (82-62), and Cal State Dominguez Hills (72-65). CSUMB is averaging 76.6 points per game while giving up 78.8 points per game. The Otters are outrebounding their opponents 36.9 to 36.4. Jaden Tengan leads the way for Stan State with his 13.6 points per game average and 92.9% shooting from the line. Jailen Nelson is right behind him with his 12.8 scoring average. Nelson leads the team with his 32 assists while Javon Johnson has recorded a team high 11 steals. Charles Johnston is averaging a double-double with his 12.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game average. Johnson leads the team with his five blocked shots. Joe Wall has made a team high 18 treys while Johnson is shooting a team leading 38.7% from beyond the arc.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series 19-18 with CSUMB winning the last four games. The Otters defeated the Warriors 82-66 in Turlock on Feb. 16.
Jeremiah Jones had 11 points for Stan State. CSUMB won 80-74 in Seaside on Jan. 21. The last Stan State victory was 57-56 in Turlock on Jan. 23, 2020, as the Warriors made two free throws with five seconds left in regulation. The Warriors won in Seaside that season on Dec 5. 2019, a 73-69 Stan State victory.
