RECAP OF LAST WEEK: The Warriors opened the 2023 season in Chico for a three-game series against Academy of Art and Chico State. They came out of the fire with a 2-1 record, winning both games in the series against the Urban Knights and losing their first game against CCAA competition to the Wildcats.
UPDATE ON WARRIORS: The Warriors take on Cal State East Bay for a four-game series at home. This will be the team's first taste of CCAA competition this year. Stan State currently has the best batting average in the conference (.337), ranking just above Cal State East Bay (.298). They've managed to score 22 runs on 29 hits in just three games played, collecting five doubles and 20 RBIs.
Stan State has rotated three pitchers in
Kyndra Marzorini,
Jessell Lewis, and
Victoria Alarcon who have amassed a collective 1.56 ERA. The trio has pitched a total of 17 strikeouts.
The team's fielding percentage sits at .959, with a combined 17 total assists. Freshman 1B
Payton Applequist and Sophomore C
Karli DalBianco lead the team with a combined 33 putouts.
UPDATE ON CAL STATE EAST BAY: The Pioneers are 4-4 on the early season, with a combined batting average of .298. They've amassed 43 runs in their first eight games with a slugging average of .377. Senior UTL Sarah Duran is the team's leader with seven runs. The best ERA goes to Freshman Keira Cahalan (4.57), while Senior Anamaria Beard is the strikeouts leader with 16. East Bay has done a solid job in the fielding category with all but one player over .900.
