BOSTON, Mass. – The Warriors made the long haul to New England to compete at the Boston University Last Chance meet on the East coast. They return home with seven personal best marks and two NCAA provisional times to end their indoor regular season.
Najwa Chouati returned to the 3000m, this time shattering another school record with a provisional time of 9:26.06 to place 11
th overall. This was a new personal best time for Chouati, who was joined by her teammate
Yahaira Zuniga, who also PR'd in the event with a 9:53.96. Chouati currently holds the 17
th spot on the NCAA Division II Indoor Qualifying list.
Bela Moreno was the lone Warrior in the Women's Mile, and finished with a new PR of 5:17.04.
In Women's Weight Throw, the
Alexis Garnica (16.58m),
Caitlyn Bell (16.08m), and
Macky Morris (14.14m) placed 7
th-9
th, two of whom earned new PRs. Garnica and Morris each threw new personal bests, tossing five feet further than their previous best from GVSU.
On the sprints side,
Angel Johnson,
Alanna Gillette, and
Alexis Kaae each competed in the 60m Dash prelims. Kaae ran in the second heat, rolling to a new 9.22 PR. Her finish was an improvement of .07 seconds since her performance on day one of the GVSU weekend series. Johnson placed 21
st overall with a time of 8.66, followed by Gillette at 9.02.

Troy Johnson shared his thoughts on the indoor season as a whole, "A great finish to the regular season for indoor track. In every meet the ladies were competitive and supportive of every effort given," said Coach Johnson. "I'm very proud of them and our coaching staff (Darren) Holman, (Courtney) Heiner, and (Casey) Ballinger for the hard work being done. Najwa will get to compete against the nations best in DII and will represent us proudly. More great things to come from Warrior Track and Field."
UP NEXT: As the indoor regular season concludes, Chouati looks to be on pace for at least two national qualifying spots at this year's NCAA Indoor Championship at Virginia Beach. She currently holds the 9
th place spot in the Women's 5000m and the 17
th spot in the Women's 3000m. The rest of the Warriors will pick up where they left off during last weekend's outdoor season with their home opener on Mar. 3
rd and 4
th at the annual Kim Duyst Invitational.
