VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Stan State's Annie Wild earned First Team All-America honors while Alexis Nino secured Second Team All-America recognition as the Warriors wrapped up competition Saturday at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

"What Annie was able to do today after two races prior was incredible," said Troy Johnson, head coach of Stan State women's indoor and men's and women's outdoor track & field. "Very proud of her and her efforts believing in her abilities and training. Coaches Holman and Heiner had her mentally and physically ready. Congrats to our team and the support they've shown each other. Congrats to Alexis on Second Team All-America being her and Coach Ballinger's first trip to the show. We are learning from this experience and looking forward to seeing what we can do in outdoors. Go Warriors!"

Wild finished third in the women's mile final, crossing the line in 4:45.45 to score six team points for the Warriors. With the podium finish, the junior earned First Team All-America honors and became a five-time All-American during her Stan State career.

The defending national champion positioned herself near the front throughout the race, briefly holding the lead early before remaining among the top three runners entering the final laps. Wild closed with a 33.05 final lap to secure the podium finish.  Ava O'Connor of Adams State captured the national title with a time of 4:44.04, followed by CSU Pueblo's Helen Braybrook in 4:44.49.

Later in the day, Alexis Nino represented Stan State in the women's shot put, finishing 16th overall with a mark of 13.18 meters (43-3). With her national championship appearance, Nino earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.
Stan State finished the championships tied for 32nd in the team standings with six points, all scored by Wild in the mile.

The Warriors also earned Second Team All-America honors in the distance medley relay on Friday as Izzy Soto, Mila Real, Crystal Hernandez and Wild finished ninth in 11:42.25.
