Jetton Leads the Way for Warriors at The Battle in the Desert

LA QUINTA, Calif.---  Stan State shot a three-round score of 22-over par 886 to finish in twelfth place at the 16-team Battle in the Desert at the par-72 PGA West Mountain Course.  The Warriors shot a 288, 295 and a 303 to finish with their 886.  Nate Jetton led the way for the Warriors with his five-under par 211 to finish tied for second place with Cal State East Bay's Easton Hether and one stroke behind individual medalist John Kim's six-under par 210. 

886:  Stan State started the three-day tournament with a 288 on Monday.  The Warriors came back and shot a 295 on Tuesday and finished with a 303 this afternoon to finish with their 886.

JETTON: Nate Jetton led the way for the Warriors with his five-under par 211 to finish in a tie for second place with Cal State East Bay's Easton Heather. Jetton started the tournament with a three-under par 69.  He came back and shot an even par 72 on Tuesday.  The Warrior finish with a two-under par 70 to finish with a 211.  During the three-day tournament, Jetton recorded 14 birdies and 32 pars on the course. 

OTHER WARRIORS TO FIGURE IN TO THE 886:  Chris Ebster finished with a ten-over par 226 (71-75-80) to finish in a four-way tie for 45th place.  One stroke behind Ebster was Jarred Hernandez with his eleven-over par 227(71-74-82) to finish in a four-way tie for 49th place.  Finishing with a twelve-over par 228 was Chris Chomyn (tied for 52nd, 77-74-77).  Rounding out the Warriors' scoring was Camdan Indelicato with a 232 (tied for 71st, 81-75-76).  Ebster recorded 36 pars on the course with Chomyn with 34 and Hernandez with 32 and Indelicato with 30.  Hernandez and Indelicato each had seven birdies.

TEAM/INDIVIDUAL MEDALIST:  Cal State East Bay captured the Battle in the Desert with a three-round score of 868 followed by team host, Cal State San Bernardino, with an 869. The Yotes' John Kim was the individual medalist with a six-under par 210. 

UP NEXT:  Stan State will return to the course in two weeks, March 13-14, at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park in Alameda, Calif.  Two weeks after that the Warriors will host the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, March 27-28, at the Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock.
