STOCKTON, Calif. — Behind a 75 (+3) from
Owen Bascom, the Stan State men's golf team opened the 2026 CCAA Championships with a 305 (+17) on Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park (Par 72) in Stockton, Calif. The Warriors sit seventh after the first round in a field loaded with regionally and nationally ranked competition.
According to the latest NCAA Division II West Region rankings, Cal State East Bay is ranked No. 2, CSU San Bernardino No. 4, Chico State No. 5, and Cal State San Marcos No. 7, while CSU Monterey Bay is No. 8. Nationally, Chico State is ranked No. 26, Cal State East Bay No. 30, CSU San Bernardino No. 31, and CSU Monterey Bay No. 49.
CSU San Bernardino leads the tournament at 282 (-6), followed by Cal State San Marcos at 288 (E). Chico State and CSU Dominguez Hills are tied for third at 289 (+1), with CSU East Bay fifth (295, +7), CSU Monterey Bay sixth (296, +8), and Stan State seventh (305, +17).
Four players share the individual lead at 68 (-4): CSU San Bernardino's Kamron Hopson, Cal State San Marcos' Gavin McCormick, Chico State's Naoki Easterday, and CSU Dominguez Hills' Se Min Song.
Bascom led the way for Stan State and is tied for 22nd overall.
Riley Kirk is close behind at 76 (+4), placing tied for 24th.
Carson Diaz,
Ricky Sullivan and
Chase Bird each carded 77 (+5) and are tied for 27th.
With two rounds remaining, Stan State will look to gain ground in a tightly packed leader board.
The Warriors will tee off the second round Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. and will be paired with Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.
Ricky Sullivan will tee off at 8:00 a.m., followed by
Chase Bird at 8:11 a.m.,
Carson Diaz at 8:22 a.m.,
Riley Kirk at 8:33 a.m., and
Owen Bascom at 8:44 a.m. The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The top 10 teams from both the West and South Central regions will advance to the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional, with selections announced April 25 on NCAA.com. The regional is scheduled for May seven through nine at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif., followed by the NCAA Division II National Championships May 18 through 22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
