Softball Gears Up for Five Home Games During TOC Weekend

RECAP OF LAST WEEK: After taking the third of four games against Cal State Monterey Bay on a walk-off double in the 8thinning, the Warriors finished 1-3 in their last home series before the start of tournament play. The Warriors got their 2-1 victory before finishing the series with a 3-2 loss.

Through TOC Weekend, the Warriors will face:

Northwest Nazarene University (3/30) - 6:30pm
Montana State University Billings (3/31) - 4:30pm
Azusa Pacific University (3/31) - 7:00pm 
Dominican University (4/1) - 11:30am
Chaminade University (4/1) - 7:00pm

UPDATE ON WARRIORS: Stanislaus State has gone 6-16 overall with a 4-15 record in the conference. Following the Tournament of Champions, the team will have five more series to play before the postseason blooms. They will have to climb up the leaderboards to earn a spot in the CCAA tournament, but will have all must-win games ahead of them.
 
AMONG THE CCAA LEADERS: The Warriors' pitchers have the 4th best ERA in the conference this season (2.60). Teams have batted a collective .262 when stepping up to plate against Stan State's pitching trio of Victoria Alarcon, Jessell Lewis, and Kyndra Marzorini. Alarcon has the team's best ERA (2.06), which is good for 14th in the CCAA.
 
Catcher Karli DalBianco is 15th in the conference in total putouts (76), while SS Mikaela Ferreira retains the team's best batting average .358, putting her at 12th overall in the conference.
 
UPDATE ON NORTHWEST NAZARENE: The Nighthawks hold a 16-11 overall record and have only lost one of their eight games against GNAC rivals to claim the 1st place spot. NNU has been on a four-game win streak heading into their matchup with Stan State, led in part by Jani Obringer (.422) and Maia McNicoll (8 HRs). The team has an overall slugging percentage of .409 and gets on base at a clip of .369.
 
UPDATE ON MSU BILLINGS: The 11-16 Yellowjackets have gone just 5-7 in the GNAC on the bottom half of teams in the conference this year. Teagan Seeton's .316 batting average leads the team, while 3B Marin Penney has fenced nine home runs through the season. Their pitchers total a 4.70 ERA, handing opponents a .311 batting average.
 
UPDATE ON AZUSA PACIFIC: The Cougars are 17-14 through the bulk of the 2023 season, going 9-9 in the PacWest. The 5th place team has gone on a six-game winning streak over the past few weeks and average 20.35 putouts per contest. Their pitching troop allows 2.80 runs on average and scores nearly four runs in their 31 games played. RHP Katie Korstrom has the team's best batting average (.372) and on-base percentage (.456) through the season.
 
UPDATE ON DOMINICAN: The Penguins have gotten off to a 12-13 start this season, ranked 2nd in the PacWest. Their leading batter, Shelby Kettner, has displayed a .303 batting average and .329 on-base percentage, while the team's batting average sits just below .300. Their three-pitcher rotation averages nearly five strikeouts per contest.
 
UPDATE ON CHAMINADE: The Silverswords will headline the Warriors' final game of the tourney, they are 16-14 with a 9-11 conference record. They are currently ranked 6th in the PacWest, averaging a little over seven hits per game and 4.1 runs. Defensively, they give up nearly four runs per game, but a majority of their action goes to 1B Kobe Brown who has nine double-digit putout games through 30 games.
