PUEBLO, Colo. – Trent Lauderdale made waves in his first official season of collegiate competition with the Warriors. His 10
th place finish in the Men's 400m Hurdles at this year's NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships earned him a new personal best of 51.87 and gave him the 3
rd best time in the CCAA this season. The sophomore out of Fontana provisionally qualified for the event back in April at the Cal State LA Twilight Meet and continued his ascent up the national rankings to 19
th heading into the championship weekend.
Heading up to CSU Pueblo for a shot at the national title, Lauderdale placed 3
rd in the final 400m Hurdle preliminary heat of the day, finishing just one spot behind the final cutoff spot to advance to Saturday's final. Despite the finish, Lauderdale's new PR will serve as a nice consolation. "I am very proud of the final performance Trent gave us to finish the season," said Stan State Head Coach
Troy Johnson following the race. "After having a season ending injury the year before, (he came) back from it with determination, great character, and work ethic. He has a bright future and I'm very excited for what the future holds for him." Just a freshman eligibility-wise on the track, Lauderdale will aim for more trips to the national meet in the coming years.
