TURLOCK, Calif.--- After going 4-1 in their last five matches, the Stan State Warriors clinched one of the six spots for the 2024 CCAA Soccer Championships which begin this Sunday, November 10 with First Round matches at host sites. The Warriors are in third place, just one point out of second place (Cal State Los Angeles) and two points out of fourth place (Cal State East Bay) heading into their final home match this Thursday, November 7 at 11:30 a.m. against Chico State at Warrior Stadium.
2-1 WEEK: Stan State went 2-1 this week with a 3-2 victory at home over Sonoma State and a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Cal State San Marcos. The Warriors had their six-match winning streak in a 2-0 loss at Cal State East Bay on Sunday. In their win over Sonoma State on Wednesday,
Kaley Miller assisted on two of the Warriors' three goals. The trio of

Jocelin Roa, and
Aliah Avila scored the Warriors' three goals. On Friday afternoon, Stan State rallied from a 1-0 half-time deficit to defeat Cal State San Marcos 2-1. Once again, Miller assisted on both Warrior goals while Avila added an assist. Roa and Avila each scored goals for the victors. Stan State finished the week with a 2-0 loss at Cal State East Bay on Sunday.
STAN STATE IN REVIEW: Entering their Thursday match with Chico State, the Warriors are 9-6-2 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA. Stan State is averaging 1.59 goals a game while giving up 1.29 goals a game.
Aliah Avila leads the way with her eight goals, four assists, 20 points, and seven game-winning goals.
Kaley Miller has recorded a team leading seven assists to go with her one goal.
Jocelin Roa is second on the team with her eleven points and five goals to go with her one assist.
Sabrina Cabrera and Miller are third in scoring with nine points. Cabrera has three goals and three assists this season.
Shauna Johnston has recorded the Warriors' two other game-winning goals.
Natalia Ochoa has posted a 1.36 goals against average with 50 saves and a .781 saves percentage and two shutouts in 13 matches.
Tylin Norman has seen action in five matches with a 0.80 goals against average and a .857 saves percentage.
Malia Allen has a 1.69 goals against average in four matches.
TENTH APPEARANCE: Stan State will be making its tenth appearance in the CCAA Soccer Championships. This will be the Warriors' third straight appearance in the tournament. Last season, they lost 2-1 in overtime to Cal Poly Humboldt in the First Round at home. The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 7 will receive a bid to the CCAA Soccer Championships, Nov. 10, 15-17. The first round will be held on November 10 at the sites of the number three and four seeds. The top two seeds receive a first-round bye. The semi-finals are set for November 15 in Arcata, Calif., on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt. The championship match will take place on November 17 at 11:00 a.m. in Arcata, Calif.

Natalia Ochoa is fourth in saves (50), sixth in saves percentage (.781), ninth in goals against average (1`.36), and tied for ninth in shutouts (two). Miller leads the CCAA with her seven assists while Cabrera is tied for fourth with her three assists. Roa is tied for seventh with her five goals and Johnston is tied for seventh with her two game-winning goals. Avila is second in the nation with her seven game-winning goals.
WILDCATS IN REVIEW: Chico State enters Thursday's match at Stan State with a 5-6-6 overall record and a 2-5-3 CCAA record. The Wildcats are 1-4 in their last five matches including losing both matches 2-1 on the road this weekend to Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Marcos. Avery Pieri leads the team with her six goals, 13 points, and two game-winning goals. She also has an assist. Jiana Martin and Hannah Pieri are tied for the team lead in assists with three. Emma Hofmann has a 1.16 goals against average in ten matches with 23 saves, .676 saves percentage, and one shutout. Claire Schnabel has a 1.40 goals against average in six matches and a .788 saves percentage. Peyton Johnson has seen action in three matches in goal with a 1.60 goals against average.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Chico State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 17-14-9 since 1998. The Wildcats defeated Stan State 2-1 in Chico in a non-conference match on September 28. Jocelyn Figuera scored the Warriors' goal. Stan State defeated the Wildcats last season in Chico 2-0.
