TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will wrap up the 2024 Calendar Year with two road games this week. Prior to the Holidays, the Warriors will have a rematch with Cal State Monterey Bay this Saturday, December 21 at 3:00 p.m. in Seaside, Calif. Their final game of the 2024 year will be this Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. in Sacramento, Calif., for an exhibition game at Sacramento State.
LAST WEEK: The Warriors just faced the University of San Francisco in an exhibition game this past Wednesday at The Hilltop in San Francisco. Stan State lost to the Dons 68-52 with
Jeremiah Jones leading the way with 16 points.
Jonathan Tchengang chipped in 14 points and
Daniel Ameyaw added 11 points. The Warriors forced 16 turnovers by USF including 12 by steals (three by
Jordan Smith and two by Ameyaw).
WARRIORS: Heading into its game at Cal State Monterey Bay, Stan State is 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA. The Warriors are averaging 73.2 points per game while giving up 73.1 points per game. They are being out rebounded 35.8 to 33.0. Their defense is holding its opponents to 39.9% shooting from three-point land while forcing 14.0 turnovers per game.
Jeremiah Jones leads the way for Stan State with his 18.9 scoring average, 77.8 shooting from the line, and 31 assists.
Daniel Ameyaw is averaging 9.3 points per game followed by
Jonathan Tchengang's 8.0 scoring average and
Jason Zimmer's 7.6. Ameyaw leads the team with his 7.3 rebounding average while Tchengang has recorded a team leading 18 steals. Zimmer leads the Warriors with his 62.2% shooting from the field, 57.1% shooting from threes, and 16 threes made.
William Chavarin has blocked a team leading five shots.
SIX OUT OF NINE: Out of Stan State's first nine games this season, six of them the Warriors have recorded single digits in turnovers and double digits in assists. Stan State dished out a season high 17 assists in its game at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 7. For the season, the Warriors have a +1.31 assist/turnover ratio with seven Warriors having more assists than turnovers led by
Jeremiah Jones' 31 assists and 14 turnovers.
Cameron Walker has 20 assists with ten turnovers followed by
Jason Cibull with 15 assists and just one turnover. Other Warriors with more assists than turnovers are
William Chavarin (12 assists, eight turnovers),
Jonathan Tchengang (ten assists, seven turnovers), and
Fabian Reichstadt and
Jordan Smith each with four assists and two turnovers.
JJ: Jeremiah Jones has scored in double digits in all nine of the Warriors' games this season. He had a career high 33 points in Stan State's victory over Western Oregon (Nov. 15). Jones has scored 20 or more points three times this season and twice in the Warriors' last three games. He leads the team with his 18.9 scoring average, 31 assists, and 77.8% shooting from the line.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double and fourth of his career with a 16-point, 11-rebound performance in the Warriors' victory over CSUMB on Nov. 30. He was seven-for-12 from the field and went two-for-four from the line. Ameyaw blocked two shots and added a steal in 31 minutes. For the season, Ameyaw is averaging 10.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 42% from the field with three blocked shots.
NATIONALLY RANKED: As a team, the Warriors are seventh in the nation with their 9.6 turnovers per game. They are 31
st with their +4.4 turnover margin.
CCAA STATS: Stan State is in the top half of the CCAA in six team statistical categories. The Warriors are second in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (35.6%), turnover margin (+4.4), and assist/turnover ratio (+1.30). They are third with their 7.4 threes made per game average. Stan State is sixth in rebounding (33.0 rebounds per game) and field goal percentage defense (44.8%).

Jason Zimmer are in the top half of the conference in seven individual statistical categories. Jones leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (+2.2). second in scoring (18.9 points per game), fifth in field goal percentage (53%), and sixth in assists/game (3.4). Ameyaw is fifth with his 7.3 rebounding average. Zimmer's 1.8 made threes per game is seventh. Tchengang's 2.1 steals per game average is eighth in the CCAA.
COACH TREVOR: With the Warriors' victory over CSU Monterey Bay on November 30 at home, Coach
Paul Trevor has recorded 76 victories during his time on the sidelines at Stan State. Those 76 victories place him fourth on the Warrior coaching wins list. For his 14-year career at Stan State and San Francisco State is 183-181.
LAST ONE: Stan State will face Sacramento State (out of the Big Sky Conference) in its final exhibition game of the 2024-25 season after its CCAA rematch at Cal State Monterey Bay. The Warriors will face the Hornets this Sunday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. in Sacramento. Stan State faced two teams from the West Coast Conference earlier this season in exhibition games in Saint Mary's and San Francisco.
OTTERS IN REVIEW: Cal State Monterey Bay snapped its three-game losing streak this past Thursday in its 69-62 victory over UC Merced. The Otters enter their game with Stan State with a 3-5 overall record and a 1-2 CCAA record. They are averaging 68.9 points per game while giving up 72.9 points per game. CSUMB is outrebounding its opponents 36.1 to 33.8. Jaden Tengan leads the way with his 13.9 scoring average, 27 assists, and 88% shooting from the line. Javon Johnson leads the Otters with his 45.8% shooting from three-point land and Blake Jones is shooting a team high 50% from the field. Michael Mora has made a team high 13 three-point field goals. Konner Baroni has blocked a team high 13 shots and recorded a team leading nine steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. CSUMB: Stan State leads the all-time series with the Otters 21-19 since 2001 as the Warriors have won the last two games in Turlock. They defeated CSUMB 90-79 in November and 93-85 last season in February. The last Warrior victory over the Otters in Seaside was 82-70 on January 5, 2019. CSUMB defeated Stan State 63-62 on New Year's Eve in 2023-24 when Jaelen Nelson made a free throw after recording a steal with one second to go in the game.
FIRST TIME VS. THE OTTERS: Stan State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay in both team's CCAA opener, November 30 in Turlock behind a balanced scoring attack led by
Jeremiah Jones' career high 28 points.
Jason Cibull had 19 points and
Jason Zimmer had 11 points off the bench as the duo outscored the Otters' bench 30-19.

HORNETS IN REVIEW: Sac State enters its game at Oregon State this Tuesday, December 17 with a 2-8 overall record. The Hornets are on a four-game losing streak since defeating Air Force 63-61, November 27. They are averaging 66.7 points per game while giving up 68.0 points per game. Sac State is outrebounding its opponents 35.3 to 34.1. Jacob Holt leads the way for the Hornets with his 15.9 scoring average, 6.3 rebounding average, and 50.5% shooting from the field. Julian Vaughns is second on the team with his 11.2 scoring average while he leads the Hornets with his 92.3% shooting from the line. Holt and Vaughns leads the team each with their 15 threes made. Lachlan Brewer is shooting a team high 54.5% from three-point land. Bailey Nunn leads the Hornets with his 37 assists.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SAC STATE: This will be an exhibition game for the Warriors when they face Sac State this Sunday. Last time, Stan State faced the Hornets the Warriors lost 72-51, December 28, 2022, in Sacramento. The Warriors outscored the Hornets 27-19 in the first half, but Sac State outscored Stan State 53-24 in the second half. Stan State defeated the Hornets 68-67 in Turlock, January 10, 1986.
