TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will return home to Warrior Softball Field this Friday-Saturday, March 1-2 when the Warriors face Chico State in a four-game series. The two teams will play a 2:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on Friday. The series will conclude with a noon starting doubleheader on Saturday.
LAST WEEK: Stan State went 1-5 in its six games last week against Simon Fraser and Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Warriors split their doubleheader with Simon Fraser falling 9-0 (five innings) and defeating the Red Leafs 8-2. They lost in four games in a CCAA series in Carson to Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-0, 4-0, 5-3, and 12-3 (5)). They hit for a .279 batting average with six players hitting over .300 in
Jessica Gutierrez (.500),
Noelany Ramirez (.500),
Lauryn Serda (.417),
Sasha Martello (.333),
Katie Thornsberry (.333), and
Mikaela Ferreira (.313). Martello had a team leading six hits while Gutierrez and Serda each had five.
Sasha Martello was 1-2 in the circle with a 3.30 earned run average and four strikeouts with no walks in 23.1 innings pitched.
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State is 2-13 overall and 1-7 in the CCAA with a .243 batting average and a 4.74 earned run average. Four players are hitting over .300 in
Jessica Gutierrez (.500),
Noelany Ramirez (.333),
Shelby Frutoz (.316), and
Mikaela Ferreira (.310). Gutierrez has a team leading .500 slugging and .545 on-base percentage. Ferreira and
Payton Applequist each have driven in a team leading six runs.
Katie Thornsberry has scored a team high six runs.
Sasha Martello leads Stan State with her three doubles and Applequist has hit a team leading two home runs. Martello leads the pitching staff with her 2-4 record, 3.94 earned run average, and nine strikeouts.
CHICO STATE: The Wildcats are 3-8 overall and 3-5 in the CCAA after taking three out of four games from Cal State San Bernardino this weekend in Chico. They split the series on Friday 2-1 and 1-3, before sweeping Saturday's doubleheader 3-0 and 4-1. The Wildcats are hitting .233 as a team with a 3.00 earned run average. Tayler Beres leads the team with her .412 batting average, 14 hits, .559 slugging percentage, .474 on-base percentages, and six runs scored. She is tied with Ali Lewis each with four runs batted in and with Lewis and Ashley Rocha each with two doubles. Lewis and Berens each have hit home runs for Chico State. Katelyn Oldwin leads the Wildcat pitcher with her 2.53 earned run average, 2-3 record, and 28 sttrikeouits.

UP NEXT: After Saturday's doubleheader versus the Wildcats on Saturday, Stan State will be off next week and returns to the diamond in San Bernardino, for a four-game series with Cal State San Bernardino March 15-16. The Warriors will return home, March 22-24, when they host the 21
st Annual Tournament of Champions, presented by the City of Turlock at Pedretti Park and Warrior Field. Stan State will face Azusa Pacific (11:30am) and Central Washington (4:30pm) on March 22.
