TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will return to the court this weekend in two different parts of the State of California this Thursday and Saturday, February 8 and 10. The Warriors will be in Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 7:30pm scheduled tip-off with Sonoma State this Thursday, February 8. They will end their weekend with a 3pm scheduled tip-off with Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos, Calif., this Saturday, February 10.
WARRIORS: Stan State is 6-15 overall and 3-12 in the CCAA heading into this week. The Warriors are averaging 67 points per game while giving up 73 points per game. They are being outrebounded 37.3 to 35.8.
John Wade III leads the team with his 12.5 scoring average followed by
Dontrell Hewlett at 11.8 points per game. Wade leads the Warriors with his 31 steals and 54 assists.
Daniel Ameyaw is averaging a team high 8.1 rebounds per game to go with his 13 blocked shots and 50.4% shooting from the field.
Tony Singleton has made a team leading 40 treys and is shooting a team high 38.8% from beyond the arc.
Micah Boone leads Stan State with his 83.7% shooting from the line.
STAN STATE HEAD COACH PAUL TREVOR: Coach Trevor enters his seventh year as the head coach at Stan State and 14
th year overall coaching. He is 177-171 in his fourteen years including 70-85 on the sidelines in Turlock. During his 14-year coaching career, Trevor has coached 27 All-CCAA honorees including eight First Team selections and one CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Two players have been named to the preseason All-American Teams with one receiving All-American honors and three All-Region honors. In 2016-17 at SF State, he guided the Gators the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in 23 years and he was named the NABC West Region Co-Coach of the Year while the Gators were ranked No. 22 in the end of the season national NABC rankings.
HOME STAND: The Warriors went 0-2 last weekend with two heartbreaking losses to Cal State Los Angeles (88-83) and No. 22 Cal State Dominguez Hills (82-77). They averaged 80 points per game while gave up 85 points per game. Four players averaged double digits in scoring in
John Wade III (16.5 ppg),
Jeremiah Jones (13.5 ppg),
Mahda Fallay (13.0 ppg), and
Dontrell Hewlett (11.0 ppg). Fallay averaged 8.5 rebounds per game to go with his 90% shooting from the field and team high six assists with no turnovers. Wade made a team leading six treys and
Cam Walker connected on a team high 45.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc. Hewlett was a perfect 11-for-11 from the line and had two blocked shots. Jones led the Warriors with his three steals.
ONE POSSESION GAMES: Four of Stan State's losses have been by three points or less. Two of their four victories have been by three-points in Fresno Pacific (56-53) and Dominican (63-60). Their four losses were to Point Loma (82-79 overtime), Cal State Dominguez Hills (65-63), Cal State Monterey Bay (63-62), and Sonoma State (61-59). This past weekend they were in both games down the final minute as they lost both games by just five points in Cal State Los Angeles (88-83) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (82-77).
FOUR DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double as a Warrior in Stan State's 82-77 victory over Western Oregon in Rohnert Park, Nov. 17. Ameyaw was four-for-seven from the field and two-for-three from the charity stripe. He grabbed four offensive and six defensive rebounds to go with his five assists, two steals, and one assist. His second double-double came in the Warriors' win over SF State in which he had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ameyaw's third double-double came in the Warriors' 95-83 loss at Cal State Los Angeles. JJ/MAHDA: Jeremiah Jones and Madha Fallay had a weekend for the Warriors. Jones averaged 13.5 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in the two games while shooting 57.9% from the field and 44.4% from three-point land. Fallay averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 90% from the field. He recorded his first double-double of his career with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Cal State L.A.
RANKED IN THE CCAA: Stan State is tied for third in the CCAA with their 10.9 offensive rebounds per game. The Warriors are fourth in three-point field goal percentage (32.3%) and fifth in free throw percentage (70.9%) and rebounding (35.8). They are also sixth in steals per game (7.05).
John Wade III is tied for sixth in steals (31), tied for sixth in assists/game (2.7), tied for sixth in steals per game (1.6), and tied for seventh in total assists (54).
Tony Singleton is second in three-point field goal percentage (38.8%) and treys made per game (2.1) while he is tied for fourth in treys made (40).
Daniel Ameyaw is fourth in rebounding (8.1) and eighth in total rebounds (137).
SONOMA STATE: The Seawolves are 10-11 overall and 8-9 in the CCAA and have lost four of their last five games. They snapped their four-game losing streak on Saturday with a 55-53 victory. Andrew Henderson leads the team with his 11.7 scoring and 7.3 rebounding average. Dillon Iyawe is shooting a team high 61.1% from the field and Cameron Barry is shooting a team leading 40% from beyond the arc to go with his 40 treys. Barry also leads the team with his 74.2% shooting from the line. Nick Medeiros has dished out a team high 41 assists. Barry is tied with Julian Bryant each with 24 steals.
LAST TIME: Sonoma State defeated the Warriors 61-59 in a back-and-forth affair on January 6 in Turlock.

CAL STATE SAN MARCOS: The Cougars are 8-13 overall and 7-8 in the CCAA and have lost five of their last six games. They went 0-2 last week at home losing 71-56 to Cal Poly Pomona and 80-61 to Cal State San Bernardino. CSUSM is averaging 70.0 points per game while giving up 70.1 points per game. They are being outrebounded 39.4 to 33.0. Four players are averaging double digits in scoring in Edywn Collins (15.8 ppg), Charlie Henderson (13.3 ppg), Camren Pierce (11.7 ppg), and Mike Pope (10.0 ppg). Collins leads the team with his 64 assists and 45 steals. Henderson has blocked a team high 19 shots and is averaging a team leading 6.7 rebounds per game to go with his team high 54.6% shooting from the field. Leading the team with his 53 treys made and 38.1% shooting from three-point land is Pope.
LAST TIME: Cal State San Marcos defeated Stan Sate 71-42 on January 4 in Turlock. Edwyn Collins led CSUSM with 18 points while Charlie Henderson added 15 points. Mike Pope chipped in 13 points and Max Tengan added 10 points. Three Warriors scored seven points each in
