TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will continue its season beginning six-game road trip this Saturday-Sunday, February 10-11 at the North Bay Challenge. The Warriors will face Academy of Art this Friday, February 10 at 12:30pm at Seawolf Softball Field on the campus of Sonoma State in Rohnert Park. They will finish the weekend with a pair of games in San Rafael at Penguin Field on the campus of Dominican. Stan State will face Saint Martin's (10am) and Dominican (12:30pm) on Sunday.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stan State went 0-3 in the rain shortened Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine last weekend. The Warriors lost 3-2 to No. 25 Northwest Nazarene, 4-2 to No. 14 Concordia, and 9-1 (5) to Western Washington. Five players hit over .330 in
Payton Applequist (.571),
Noelany Ramirez (.500),
Mikaela Ferreira (.444),
Sarah Warden (.429), and
Shelby Frutoz (.333). Applequist and Ferreira each had a team leading four hits. Warden drove home a team high three runs. Applequist leads the team with her .571 slugging and on-base percentages.
PITCHERS: Shelby Frutoz has a team low 0.78 earned run average in nine innings pitched and two starts. The opponents are batting .244 against her in the circle.
ALL-TOURNAMENT: Stan State's
Payton Applequist was named to the 2024 Concordia Kickoff Classic All-Tournament as announced by the tournament officials after the conclusion of the classic on Sunday. Applequist had a .571 batting average with a .571 on-base and slugging percentage in the Warriors' three games.
URBAN KNIGHTS: Academy of Art enters the Challenge with a 2-2 record after splitting its four-game series with Menlo College. The Urban Knights began the series with the Oaks losing the first two games 11-8 and 8-3 before taking the final two games 4-2 and 8-5. They have a team batting average of .331 as and a 5.38 earned run average. Audrey Allen leads the team with her four runs batted in and has hit the only Urban Knight home run. Lida Wos is four-for-four in stolen base attempts. Kayla Vaughan has a team low 3.89 earned run average with a team high nine strikeouts.
SAINTS: Saint Martin's is 3-2 after beginning the season at the D2 Kickoff Classic in Conroe, Tex. The Saints defeated Regis (7-0), Cal Poly Humboldt (5-3), and St. Edward's (7-2) and lost 7-2 to Arkansas Tech and 11-4 to Pittsburg State. Ashley Goodale leads the team with her .455 batting average while Britney Patrick has driven a team leading five runs. Chloe Leverington has a team leading a team low 3.00 earned run average with a 1-0 record and a save.
PENGUINS: Dominican is 1-2 after the Concordia Kickoff Classic this weekend. The Penguins lost to Cal State San Bernardino 2-1 and 3-2 to No. 25 Northwest Nazarene. They lost 5-4 to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Alyssa Rue has a team leading .500 with four hits. Alicia Garcia driven home a team leading three runs. Kassidy Stetler has a team leading 1.75 earned run average with a team high five strikeouts.
