Wild Provisionally Qualifies for Nationals; Wallace Breaks School Record to Highlight UW Preview for the Warriors

SEATTLE, Wash.---  Stan State continued its indoor track and field season this afternoon competing in the UW Preview at the Dempsey Indoor Facility on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.  Annie Wild provisionally qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships with her time of 2:11.23 in the 800-meter run.  For the second straight invitational, Rionna Wallace broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.80 which tied her for 14th in the field.  Mila Real moved into fourth place at Stan State in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.20.

"We have a great group of young women…they've come back off of winter break and stepped right into competition setting records, personal bests, and achieving national qualifying times…great work by our coaches preparing them to take advantage of every opportunity," said Stan State Head Coach Troy Johnson

Wild provisionally qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with her time of 2:11.23. That time is currently eighth fastest time in the nation.  She moved into fifth place at Stan State in the 800-meter run. The Warrior sophomore finished 12th in the field today and fourth in her heat.

Wallace ran a time of 7.80 in the 60-meter dash, which placed her first in the ninth heat today at the Preview, which tied for 14th overall in the field.  With her time of 7.80, the senior transfer broke her school record of 7.81 that set ran in December in Reno, Nev., at the Silver State Invitational.  Later in the day, Wallace placed first in her heat and 14th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.73.

Real improved her time in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.20 which was the fourth fastest time in the field and first in her heat.  She is now fourth at Stan State in the 400-meter dash.  To start off the day, Real finished 20th in the field and fourth in her heat with a time of 9.56 in the 60-meter hurdles.  She finished 18th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.04 which was third in her heat. 

Besides Wild in the 800-meter, Stan State had Crystal Hernandez and Dede Salcedo running in that event.  Hernandez ran a 2:17.14 to finish 18th overall and sixth in her heat while Salcedo ran a 2:21.39 to finish 26th overall and third in her heat.

Five Stan State distance runners competed in the 3000-meter run in Milca Osorio, Ariana Puccini, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Tessa Vasquez, and Yahaira Zuniga.  Sanchez-Silva paced the Warriors with her 42nd place time of 10:00.30, which is the tenth fastest time in school history.  Finishing in 56th and 57th place respectively was the duo of Zuniga (10:14.09) and Ron (10:14.97).  Vasquez ran a 10:17.76 to finish in 59th place while Puccini ran a 10:33.47 to finish in 73rd place. 

OTHER TEAMS IN THE UW PREVIEW:  Besides Stan State among the other universities/colleges competing in the UW Preview were the following: University of Washington, Stanford, University of Portland, Western Washington, Simon Fraser, Alaska Anchorage, Central Washington, Western Oregon, Seattle, Portland State, Pepperdine, Oregon State, Hawai'i, Northwestern, Cal Poly, Linfield, Pacific (Ore.), and Seattle Pacific.

UP NEXT:  Stan State will return to the Dempsey Indoor Facility tomorrow to compete in the Mile City Preview.  Milca Osorio, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva, Noheli Ron, Dede Salcedo, Arianna Puccini, Tessa Vasquez, Bela Moreno, Crystal Hernandez, and Yahaira Zuniga will compete in the Mile City Heats beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Annie Wild will run in the Mile City Invite which begins at noon.
