RENO, Nev.--- The Stan State distance medley relay team of
Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva,
Mila Real,
Crystal Hernandez, and
Annie Wild ran a first-place time of 11:53.07 to break the Reno Sparks Convention Center record in that event. With the time, the Warriors provisionally qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
"Great job by our DMR team setting a facility record and NCAA provisional qualifying time…. we have been dealing with illness and through it the ladies had some outstanding performances," said Stan State head coach
Troy Johnson.
Stan State had five other top five performances in their respective sections of their event.
Crystal Hernandez captured her section of the mile with a time of 5:26.28 while
Noheli Ron finished in second (5:27.47), and
Dede Salcedo was fourth (5:31.57) in that same section.
Yahaira Zuniga finished fourth in her section of 5:13.67.
The DMR team of Sanchez-Silva, Real, Hernandez, and Wild is now fifth on the Warriors' top ten list with their time this evening.
OTHER TEAMS: Amongst the teams competing in the Nevada Invite including the Warriors and the hosts, Nevada were Academy of Art, Colorado Mesa, Oregon State, UC Davis, Utah State, Cal State Northridge, Central Washington, Azusa Pacific, Fresno Pacific, Western Oregon, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, Cal State Los Angeles, UC San Diego, Sonoma State, UC Irvine, LaVerne, Alaska Anchorage, and Oregon Tech.
TOMORROW: Stan State will compete in Day Three of the Nevada Invite beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the shot put and 60-meter hurdles. The Warriors will also have student-athletes competing in the 60-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and the mile. After tomorrow's final day of the Nevada Invite, Stan State will return to competition in two weeks at the Wolf Pack Classic back at the Reno Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev., February 7-8.
