TURLOCK, Calif.--- After going 1-1 at home last week, Stan State will host Cal State East Bay (Thursday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m.) and San Francisco State (Saturday, February 1 at 3:00 p.m.) to end its four-game home stand this week at The Fitz. Thursday's game will be Stanislaus State Student Affairs Night and Saturday's game will be Golden Valley Health Center Day.
LAST WEEK: The Warriors went 1-1 last week in a pair of home games. They started with a 95-85 victory over Sonoma State behind a total team effort. Four Warriors scored in double digits in
Jeremiah Jones (21 points),
Jonathan Tchengang (20 points),
Jason Zimmer (18 points), and
Cameron Walker (11 points). Stan State finished the weekend with a 66-54 loss to Cal State San Marcos despite Jones' game high 24 points and Tchengang's 11 points. The Warriors averaged 74.5 points per game while gave up 75.5 points per game. The trio of Jones (22.5 ppg), Tchengang (15.5 ppg), and Zimmer (10.0 ppg) led them in scoring.
Cameron Walker had seven assists and one turnover while Zimmer had five assists and one turnover.
WARRIORS: Stan State is now 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the CCAA, which places them in a five-way in a tie for fifth place. The Warriors are averaging 69.1 points per game while giving up 71.1 points per game. They are being outrebounded 35.7 to 32.7.
Jeremiah Jones leads the way with his 18.8 scoring average, 51 assists, 48.6% shooting from the field, and 87.5% shooting from the line.
Jonathan Tchengang is averaging 9.2 points per game to go with his team high 25 steals.
Daniel Ameyaw has a team leading 7.2 rebounding average to go with his team high eight blocked shots.
Jason Cibull has made a high 25 three-point field goals while
Jason Zimmer has connected on a team leading 48.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
FIVE-WAY TIE FOR FIFTH PLACE: The Warriors enter the final ten games of the regular season in a five-way tie for fifth place with its 5-7 CCAA record. They are tied with Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Los Angeles, and San Francisco State. Stan State is one game out of fourth place which Cal Poly Humboldt is in with its 6-6 conference record. Cal State San Bernardino is in third place at 8-4 while No. 17 Chico State and Cal State Dominguez Hills are tied for first each at 11-1.

MOST SINCE 2019: The 95 points that Stan State scored in its 95-85 victory over Sonoma State this past Thursday were the most scored by the Warriors since a 97-88 victory at Cal State San Bernardino, February 23, 2019. Four players scored in double digits led by
Jeremiah Jones with 21 points.
Jonathan Tchen gang added a career high 20 points,
Jason Zimmer chipped in a season high 18 points, and
Cameron Walker scored 11 points for the victors. The Warriors dished out 18 assists on 30 field goals made with just nine turnovers. Zimmer had a season high five assists with no turnovers while Walker had four assists with just one turnover. Jason Cebull and Tchengang combined to have three assists and no turnovers.
6-1: Stan State is 5-1 when the Warriors score 70 points or more in a game. The Warriors' only loss when they have scored more than 70 points was an 86-83 overtime loss at home to UC Merced. Their five victories are Fresno Pacific (74-62), Western Oregon (94-88), Hawai'i Pacific (75-67), Cal State Monterey Bay (90-79), Cal Poly Humboldt (72-58), and Sonoma State (95-85). Stan State's two victories when scoring less than 70 points was its 69-68 overtime victory at Cal State Monterey Bay and a 67-55 victory at San Francisco State.
NOW AT 17: Jeremiah Jones has scored in double figures in all 17 games that he has played in this season for the Warriors. He leads the team with his 18.8 scoring average, 51 assists, 87.5% shooting from the line, and 48.6% shooting from the field. Five times he has scored 20 points or more including a career high 33 points in the Warrior victory over Western Oregon in Rohnert Park, Calif., on Nov. 9, 2024. For his career, Jones has scored 697 points, grabbed 213 rebounds, dished out 114 assists, and recorded 62 steals during his four-year career as a Warrior.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double of the season and fourth of his career with a 16-point, 11-rebound performance in the Warriors' victory over CSUMB on Nov. 30. He was seven-for-12 from the field and went two-for-four from the line. Ameyaw blocked two shots and added a steal in 31 minutes. For the season, Ameyaw is averaging 8.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game with a team high eight blocked shots.
CCAA STATS: Stan State is in the top six in four team statistical categories. The Warriors are second in turnover margin (+2.56), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.05), fifth in three-point field goals made/game (6.9) and sixth in scoring defense (71.1 ppg).
Jeremiah Jones is second in scoring (18.8 ppg) and second in free throw percentage (87.5%). He is fourth in field goal percentage (48.6%), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.6), and ninth in assists/game (3.0).
Daniel Ameyaw is fourth with his 7.2 rebounding average. In CCAA games only, Jones is first in free throw percentage (91.5%), third in scoring (19.1 ppg), and eighth in field goal percentage (45.7%). Ameyaw is sixth in rebounding (7.1 rag) while
Jason Cibull is eighth in three-point field goals made per game (1.9).
UPDATE ON THE PIONEERS: Cal State East Bay is 7-11 overall and 5-7 in the CCAA after going 1-1 at home this weekend defeating Cal Poly Pomona (67-65) and losing 84-72 to Cal State San Bernardino. Just like Stan State, the Pioneers are in a five-way tie for fifth place in the CCAA standings. They average 69.2 points per game while are giving up 72.9 points per game. CSUEB is being outrebounding 34.8 to 31.3. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Berlin Kabamba (13.9 ppg), Tyree Campbell (12.8 ppg), and Tolano Hardee (10.2 ppg). Ramsey Huff has made a team leading 27 treys while connecting on a team high 44.3% of his attempts from beyond the arc and 48% of his attempts from the field to go with his team leading 43 assists. Kabamba leads East Bay with his 78.9@ shooting from the line and 5.1 rebounding average. Campbell has recorded a team high 29 steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. EAST BAY: Since 2008, Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series with the Warriors 24-13, but Stan State has won five of the last eight meetings. The Warriors defeated the Pioneers 68-58 on Feb. 8, 2023, in Turlock, with
Jeremiah Jones scoring 13 points. Stan State lost 82-67 on January 11 in Hayward despite four Warriors scoring in double digits in
Jonathan Tchengang (18 points),
Jeremiah Jones (15 points),
Lloyd French (14 points), and
Jason Cibull (12 points).
GATORS IN REVIEW: Entering its game this Thursday at Chico State, SF State is 7-11 overall and 5-7 after going 1-1 last week at home losing 76-67 to Cal State San Bernardino and defeating Cal Poly Pomona 67-48. Just like the Warriors and Cal State East Bay, SF State is in a five-way tie for fifth place in the CCAA standings. The Gators are averaging 67.0 points per game while giving up 70.7 points per game. They are being outrebounded 35.8 to 32.3. Tyjean Burrell is averaging a team leading 13.0 points per game followed by John Bakke's 12.9 average. Pearse Uniacke is averaging a team high 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting a team high 68.5% from the field and blocking a team leading 44 shots. Burrell has made a team high 32 treys to go with his team leading 75.9% shooting from the line. Caden Flowers is shooting a team leading 41.5% from three-point range to go with his 64 assists. Bakke leads SF State with his 23 steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SFSU: Stan State leads the all-time series with the Gators 33-25 since 1993. The Gators have won five of the last seven meetings, but the two teams have split the last four games. Stan State defeated SF State 67-55 on January 9 in San Francisco behind
Jeremiah Jones' 29 points,
Jonathan Tchengang's 17 points, and
Jason Cibull's 11 points. The Warriors won the last meeting in Turlock between the two teams 70-65 on Dec. 2, 2023, behind
Daniel Ameyaw's 18 points, 12 rebounds performance.
