TURLOCK, Calif.--- After splitting its two home games to begin the New Year, Stan State returns to the court with two games in the Bay Area to commence a four-game road trip. The Warriors will face San Francisco State this Thursday, January 9 in San Francisco. They will continue their trip to the Bay Area this Saturday, January 11 in Hayward for a game with Cal State East Bay. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
LAST WEEK: Stan State went 1-1 to begin the 2025 calendar year at home. The Warriors started the year with a 72-58 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt as they outscored the Lumberjacks 46-24 in the second half and held them to 41% shooting from the field including 19% from three-point land for the game.
Jason Cibull led the way with 17 points.
Jeremiah Jones chipped in 14 points (all in the second half) while
William Chavarin added 11 points. They finished the weekend with a 76-62 loss to Chico State Saturday despite Jones' team high 18 points. Chavarin and Cibull each added 11 points for Stan State.
WARRIORS: Stan State enters its four-game road trip with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-3 CCAA record, which places them in a four-way tie for fourth place with Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Los Angeles, and San Francisco State. The Warriors are averaging 71.8 points per game while giving up 71.7 points per game. They are being outrebounded 36.1 to 33.7.
Jeremiah Jones leads the way with his 18.4 scoring average and 38 assists.
William Chavarin is next on the team with his 8.8 scoring average followed by
Daniel Ameyaw at 8.4 points per game. Ameyaw leads the team with his 7.6 rebounding average and seven blocked shots.
Jason Zimmer is shooting a team high 55.6% from the field and 53.1% from three-point land. Chavarin has connected on a team high 19 treys.

4-2: The Warriors are 4-2 when they have dished out more assists than turning the ball over this season after their first ten games. Their only win with more turnovers than assists was their last win 69-68 in overtime at Cal State Monterey Bay (12 assists, 15 turnovers). Their victories were against Fresno Pacific (13 assists, eight turnovers), Western Oregon (15 assists, 6 turnovers), Hawai'i Pacific (10 assists, 6 turnovers), and Cal State Monterey Bay (11 assists, 6 turnovers).
FIVE OF SIX: Stan State is 5-1 when the Warriors score 70 points or more in a game. The Warriors' only loss when they have scored more than 70 points was an 86-83 overtime loss at home to UC Merced. Their five victories are Fresno Pacific (74-62), Western Oregon (94-88), Hawai'i Pacific (75-67), Cal State Monterey Bay (90-79), and Cal Poly Humboldt (72-58). Stan State's only victory when scoring less than 70 points was its 69-68 overtime victory at Cal State Monterey Bay.
11 STRAIGHT: Jeremiah Jones has scored in double figures in all eleven games that he has played in this season. He is averaging 18.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Jones is shooting 50.6% from the field and 79.3% from the charity stripe. The senior guard has started in all eleven games he has played in this season. He has dished out 38 assists and recorded 11 steals. He scored a career high 33 points in the Warriors' 94-88 victory over Western Oregon in Rohnert Park, November 15. Three times this season he has scored 20 points or more.
CIBULL WEEKEND: Jason Cibull averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 rebounds in the Warriors' 1-1 weekend at home. He shot 50% from the field and connected on 46.7% of his attempts from beyond the arc including going three-for-three from the line. Cibull started the weekend scoring 17 points, dishing out four assists, recording two steals, and grabbing two rebounds in the Warriors' 72-58 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt. The junior transfer finished with 11 points while dishing out a season high five assists to go with his two steals and one rebound in Stan State's 76-62 loss to Chico State.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Daniel Ameyaw recorded his first double-double and fourth of his career with a 16-point, 11-rebound performance in the Warriors' victory over CSUMB on Nov. 30. He was seven-for-12 from the field and went two-for-four from the line. Ameyaw blocked two shots and added a steal in 31 minutes. For the season, Ameyaw is averaging 8.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game with a team high six blocked shots.
14.8/6.8: The Warriors are forcing 14.8 turnovers per game by their opponents while recording 6.8 steals per game.
Jonathan Tchengang leads the way with his 20 steals followed by the trio of
William Chavarin,
Jeremiah Jones, and
Cameron Walker each with 11 steals.
NATIONALLY RANKED: As a team, the Warriors are 35
th in the nation with only turning the ball over 11.1 times a game.
CCAA STATS: Stan State is in the top half of the CCAA in seven team statistical categories. The Warriors lead the conference with their 34.8% shooting from beyond the arc. They are second in assist/turnover ratio (+1.86) and third in threes made per game (7.3) and turnover margin (+3.67). Stan State is fifth with its 71.8 scoring average and sixth in field goal percentage defense (44.7%) and offensive rebounding (11.3).

Tchengang is tied for tenth with his 1.7 steals per game average.
UPDATE ON THE GATORS: San Francisco State enters its game this Thursday against the Warriors with a 5-7 overall record and a 3-3 CCAA record. The Gators went 2-0 this past weekend at home with a 75-64 victory over Sonoma State and an 80-72 victory over Cal State San Marcos. They are in a four-way tie for fourth place in the CCAA with the Warriors, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State Los Angeles. SF State is averaging 68.9 points per game while giving up 73.2 points per game. The Gators are being outrebounded 35.0 to 31.3. Tyjean Burrell leads the team with his 14.5 scoring average followed by John Bakke's 11.9 points per game average. Bakke leads the Gators with his 6.2 rebounding average, 50% shooting from the field, 39 assists, and 16 steals. Burrell has made a team leading 22 treys and connected on a team high 75.6% of his attempts from the charity stripe. Caden Flowers leads SFSU with his 37% shooting from beyond the arc. Pearse Uniacke has blocked a team high 25 shots.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SFSU: Stan State leads the all-time series with the Gators 32-28 since 1993. The Gators have won five of the last six meetings between the two teams, but they split the series last season. The Warriors defeated SF State 70-65 in Turlock on December 2, 2023, as
Daniel Ameyaw had 18 points and 12 rebounds. SF State defeated the Warriors 72-42 in San Francisco on January 25, 2024. The last time that the Warriors defeated the Gators in San Francisco was a 79-62 victory on December 15, 2019, with Darius Scott leading the way with 19 points.
PIONEERS IN REVIEW: Entering its Thursday's game at home versus Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State East Bay is 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA. The Pioneers are 3-3 in their last six games and are tied for ninth place in the CCAA with Cal Poly Humboldt. CSUEB lost both of its games last weekend 68-66 to Cal State San Marcos and 63-61 to Sonoma State. The Pioneers are averaging 66.7 points per game while giving up 72.0 points per game. They are being outrebounded 36.0 to 31.3. Cal State East Bay is led in scoring by the trio of Berli Kabamba (15.1 ppg), Tyree Campbell (12.6 ppg), and Telano Hardee (10.9 ppg). Kabamba leads the Pioneers with his 5.8 rebounding, 19 steals, 46.2% shooting from the field, and 77.8% shooting from the line. Ramsey Huff leads the team with his 23 assists while Payden White has made a team leading 19 treys.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. EAST BAY: Since 2011, Stan State leads the all-time series with Cal State East Bay 17-7 including going 6-4 in the last ten meetings. The two teams split the last four meetings. Cal State East Bay defeated the Warriors 86-76 in Turlock on November 30, 2023. Stan State defeated the Pioneers 79-73 in Hayward on January 27, 2024, with
Jonathan Tchengang scoring 11 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and recording three steals.
