Warrior Women’s Basketball Opens at Utah State Before Bill Holtz Classic in Rocklin

TURLOCK, Calif.---The 2025–26 Stanislaus State women's basketball team, led by 14th-year head coach Wayman Strickland, continues its early-season preparation this week with another NCAA Division I exhibition before opening regular-season play in Rocklin.

Stanislaus State visits Utah State for its second exhibition of the month on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. in Logan, Utah, following its preseason contest earlier this month at Santa Clara. The Warriors then open the regular season at the Bill Holtz Classic hosted by Jessup University, facing Bushnell on Friday, Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m. and host Jessup on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m.

Warriors Update
Stanislaus State returns several key contributors from last season's roster, including guard-forward Alyssa Premo, who averaged 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, and guard Kalyn Harris, who added 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. Sophomore guard Amya Vangkham-Griffin also returns after averaging 5.3 points per game. Sophomore guard Quinn Garrett started all 28 games a year ago, averaging 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and totaling 52 assists. Coming back after a redshirt season is Aaliyah Dias, who will add frontcourt depth and athleticism. Redshirting this season will be Krista Andersen.

Newcomers
The Warriors' incoming class brings a mix of experience and local talent. Freshmen Nerissa Hamilton (Grant Union HS) and Cameron Gibson (Atwater HS) join the squad, along with junior guard Lexi Derf (San Francisco State) and forward Eryn Gardner (Sonoma State).  Junior Sara Davis (Modesto JC) and Western Oregon transfer Milasarai Tau add size and versatility, while local standouts Karissa Hukill (Atwater HS) and Kylie Kulina (Beyer HS) round out a group that will look to make an immediate impact.

Scouting the Opponents
Utah State (2–1 overall)
The Aggies have won two straight, defeating CSU Bakersfield (68–65) and Omaha (77–69) after an opening loss to Utah. Aaliyah Gayles leads Utah State with 14.7 points per game, followed by Marina Asensio (11.3) and Karyn Sanford (10.7). Utah State averages 66.0 points while shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range.

Bushnell (1–3 overall)
The Beacons earned their first win of the season at Willamette (51–49) after three early setbacks. Ayden Krupke leads Bushnell with 19.5 points per game and a 40.6 percent three-point mark (13-of-32). The Beacons average 57.5 points and allow 68.5 points per game while shooting 35.8 percent overall.

Jessup (0–2 overall)
The host Warriors dropped their opening games to San Francisco State (80–71) and Cal State Monterey Bay (53–40). Porter Wood leads Jessup with 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while Giselle Dogan adds 10.5 points. Jessup shoots 43 percent from the floor but just 8.7 percent from beyond the arc (2-for-23).

Up Next
Following the Bill Holtz Classic, Stanislaus State will travel to Fresno Pacific on Nov. 26 before opening CCAA play at Cal Poly Humboldt on Dec. 4 and Chico State on Dec. 6. The Warriors' CCAA home opener is set for Dec. 19 against Cal State San Bernardino, followed by a Dec. 21 matchup with Cal Poly Pomona inside Fitzpatrick Arena.
