KENOSHA, Wisc.--- The No. 22-ranked Stanislaus State women's cross country team is set to compete on the sport's biggest stage this weekend, heading to Kenosha for the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
The Warriors are one of 34 teams advancing to the national meet, marking their second straight NCAA appearance and fourth in the last five seasons. The women's 6K championship race begins at 8 a.m. Pacific Time at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. Fans can watch the race live on NCAA.com.
Stanislaus State earned an at-large berth after placing fifth at the NCAA West Regional Championships on November 8 in Monmouth, Oregon. The Warriors scored 182 points in a deep 28-team field that included four other nationally ranked programs.
Annie Wild led the way once again with a seventh-place finish in 20:44.2 to earn USTFCCCA All-West Region honors for the second year in a row, while
Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (30th),
Bela Moreno (33rd),
Stevie Holguin (53rd), and
Nina Furtado (61st) rounded out the scoring five.
The Warriors' road to nationals was built on consistency and balance throughout the fall. Stan State opened the season by winning the Kim Duyst Twilight meet at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres, then followed with runner-up finishes at both the UC Riverside Invitational and SF State Invitational. The postseason brought even more success, as the Warriors placed second at the CCAA Championships in Chico with 39 points, placing five runners in the top 12 to earn All-CCAA honors — Wild (3rd),
Izzy Soto (7th),
Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (8th),
Nina Furtado (10th), and
Bela Moreno (12th).
Wild, a junior and former FloCollege/CCAA Runner of the Week, has paced the Warriors all season, emerging as one of the region's top individual contenders. She leads a veteran lineup that has carried the program to another strong campaign — one that saw Stan State ranked as high as No. 10 nationally this season and currently sitting at No. 22 entering the national meet.
Last season, the Warriors placed 23rd at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Sacramento, led by Wild's 67th-place individual finish in 21:47.5 and the program's third top-25 national showing in the past five years. Stanislaus State also finished 12th nationally in 2021 and 18th in 2022, continuing a remarkable run of postseason consistency.
The Warriors will be joined by West Region rivals Chico State, Cal Poly Pomona, Biola, and Western Washington in the national field. With depth, experience, and postseason momentum, Stanislaus State aims to continue its impressive run of success and make another strong showing on the national stage.
