Men’s Basketball Opens Home Slate Versus Saint Martin’s and Cal Maritime

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Stanislaus State men's basketball team tips off its 2025-26 home schedule this week with two non-conference matchups inside Fitzpatrick Arena, hosting Saint Martin's on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Cal Maritime on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Weekend Recap
Stan State stayed perfect on the road with a 93–89 victory at Dominican last Saturday, improving to 3–1 overall. The team shot 58 percent from the field in the first half and held off a late Dominican rally, led by guard Donjae Lindsey's season-high 22 points and eight assists. Daniel Ameyaw turned in a dominant performance, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field on his way to 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jason Zimmer went 4-for-6 from three-point range to finish with 16 points. Earlier in the week, Stan State earned a 78–74 win at Menlo, overcoming a five-point deficit in the final four minutes behind Malachi Johnson's double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Stan State Update
Through four games, Stan State is averaging 76.0 points per game, shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from three-point range, while holding opponents to 72.8 points per game. The team has also owned the glass, boasting a +4.0 rebounding margin (36.0–32.0). As a group, Stan State is shooting nearly 47 percent overall from the field, pulling down 36 rebounds per game and averaging 76 points per outing—ranking among the top offensive units in the CCAA through the early part of the season.

Guard Donjae Lindsey leads the team with 14.3 points per game while shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 85 percent at the line. Daniel Ameyaw is averaging a near double-double with 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest, ranking among the CCAA's top rebounders. Guard Jason Zimmer adds 11.8 points per game and is off to a red-hot 60 percent start from three-point range (12-for-20). Lloyd French (9.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.0 apg) and Malachi Johnson (9.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg) round out a balanced Stan State attack.

Sharing the Ball
Stan State has also demonstrated improved ball movement in its recent victories, recording more assists than turnovers in back-to-back games. The team tallied 19 assists to just 12 turnovers at Dominican and finished plus-four in assist-to-turnover ratio at Menlo. Lindsey leads Stan State with 14 assists on the season, followed closely by French with 12 and Jason Cibull with nine. Their steady guard play has fueled an efficient offense that's averaging 76 points per game and shooting nearly 47 percent from the field.

Double-Double Efforts
Stanislaus State men's basketball has been boosted early in the season by strong efforts on the glass. Ameyaw recorded a double-double against Fresno Pacific with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Johnson added one of his own in the road win at Menlo with 18 points and 10 boards. The duo's inside presence has anchored Stan State's rebounding advantage and balanced attack through the first four games of the season.

Perfect Shooting Performance
Ameyaw's showing at Dominican highlighted his efficiency and consistency in the paint. The senior forward went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the win, finishing with 18 points and nine rebounds. On the season, Ameyaw is averaging 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor—one of the top marks in the CCAA. His performance marked one of the most efficient single-game outings by a Stan State player in recent seasons and continued his strong start to the year as a key two-way contributor.

• Stanislaus State's 3–1 start marks its best four-game opening stretch since 2019-20.
Daniel Ameyaw ranks among the CCAA leaders in field-goal percentage (.667) and rebounding (8.8 rpg).
Donjae Lindsey's 22 points and eight assists at Dominican were both season highs.
Lloyd French is second on the team with 12 assists through four games, followed by Jason Cibull with nine.

Scouting Saint Martin's (3-1)
Saint Martin's enters the week averaging 87.0 points per game with a +12.8 scoring margin, shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and 30.2 percent from deep. The Saints feature a dynamic backcourt led by Kaden Hansen and Dae'Kwon Watson, who both average 17.8 points per game. Forward Diego Trejo-Delgado adds 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds, while Mark Clegg Jr. provides size and presence inside at 10.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. Defensively, Saint Martin's dominates the boards with a +10.8 rebounding margin and averages 9.3 steals per game, forcing opponents into over 15 turnovers on average. The Saints will play at Cal State East Bay on Tuesday, Nov. 25, before visiting Turlock on Wednesday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Stanislaus State and Saint Martin's.

Scouting Cal Maritime (4-2)
The Keelhaulers bring a balanced offensive lineup led by Nick Stone (15.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and Lawrence Long (13.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg). Cal Maritime is shooting an impressive 50.7 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from three, averaging 82.7 points per game through six contests. They also share the ball effectively (17.0 assists per game) and rebound well at 36.8 boards per game, led by Long and Mark Clegg Jr. in the paint.  They will face Jessup in Rocklin this Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30pm before traveling to Turlock this Saturday.

This will be the fourth all-time meeting between Stan State and Cal Maritime. Stan State leads the series 3–0, with wins coming in 2008 (81–59) and 2009 (89–60) in Turlock, and in 2017 (94–69) in Vallejo.
