Four Warriors provisionally qualified for nationals this weekend

Four Warriors Record NCAA DII Provisional Marks at Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash.---  Four Stan State Warriors recorded NCAA Division II provisional times this weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. Annie Wild (800-meter run), Yahaira Zuniga (3000-meter run), Crystal Hernandez (3000-meter run, and Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva (5000-meter run) each posted NCAA Division II provisional times.

"What an amazing indoor season we had capping it off with four NCAA provisional marks and five all-time rankings…this was a busy weekend in track and field and we will evaluate our next move for indoor, with that said so proud of these young ladies that competed as some of the best in the country in DII track and field," said head coach Troy Johnson.

FRIDAY:  Three of the Warriors' four provisional qualifiers were recorded on Friday afternoon in Seattle.  Yahaira Zuniga placed 63rd with her time of 9:47.33 in the 3,000-meter run to provisionally qualified in this evening. Zuniga is now 46th in the nation and eighth on the Warriors' top ten list.  Crystal Hernandez is now 52nd in the nation with her time of 9:48.73 which placed her 66th in the field on Friday.  She is now ninth on Stan State's top ten list.  Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva is now fourth on the Warrior top ten list in the 5,000-meter run with her 27th place time of 16:46.10.  That is the 20th fastest time in the nation.  Mila Real moved into eighth on Stan State's top ten list with her time of 9.49 in the 60-meter hurdles which placed 18th at the Husky Classic. Rionna Wallace ran a seventh-place time of 25.29 in the 200-meter dash.

SATURDAY:  Wallace started the day on Saturday for Stan State with a tenth-place time of 7.94 in the 60-meter dash.  Real moved into second place in school history with her sixth-place time of 56.98 in the 400-meter.  Annie Wild ran the 23rd fastest time in the nation with her provisional time of 2:10.34 which placed her 21st in the field in Washington.  She moves into third place at Stan State in the 800.

OFFICIAL FIELD:  The official field of the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships will be announced on www.ncaa.com on March 4.  The 2024-25 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for March13-15 at the Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind.
