SAN MARCOS, Calif.--- Stan State will return to Southern California for a four-game series with the Cal State San Marcos Cougars this Friday-Sunday, March 14-16, in San Marcos, Calif. The series will begin with a 3:00 p.m. single game this Friday. The two teams will play a noon starting doubleheader this Saturday. They will conclude the series with a 11:00 a.m. starting single game on Sunday. The Warriors are coming off a 2-2 home stand against Cal State Los Angeles.
LAST WEEK: The Warriors went 2-2 against Cal State Los Angeles at home. They defeated the Golden Eagles on a 5-4 walk-off win in eleven innings.
Arthur Navarette Jr. hit a one-out single to right field that brought in
Jacob Reyes with the game-winning run. Stan State defeated CSULA 8-1 in game two behind
Rocco Gurrola's five-hit complete game victory. The Golden Eagles took game three 5-4 in seven innings despite
Jacob Baker hitting a three-run home run. The Warriors lost the series finale 9-5.
Austin Sargent had three of the Warriors' nine hits and scored two runs. For the weekend, Stan State hit. 272 with Reyes leading the way with his .750 average followed by Baker at .417 and
Flavio Perez at .412. Gurrola and
Zach Geiss picked up victories for the Warriors.
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State enters this weekend's series with 10-12 overall record and a 5-7 CCAA record. The Warriors are hitting .282 as a team with a .419 slugging and .377 on-base percentages. They have stolen 28 bases in 32 attempts while their opponents have only stolen nine bases in 19 attempts. The Warriors have hit 41 doubles, six triples and 16 home runs. Stan State's fielding percentage is .983 with 14 errors in 22 games. Their team earned run average is 4.59 with 143 strikeouts and 82 walks in 194 innings pitched.
HITTERS: Five Warriors are hitting over .300 with at least twenty-five at bats led by

PITCHERS: With at least 22 innings pitched,
Rocco Gurrola leads the pitching staff with his team low 2.79 earned run average. Gurrola has struck out a team high 25 batters with just five walks in 38.2 innings.
Cameron Rosen has 22 strikeouts and four walks while
Zach Geiss has 13 strikeouts and just one walk. Geiss is 3-0 while
Caleb Bertoncini and
Austin Balentine each are 2-1. Gurrola is 2-2 after his complete game victory over the weekend. Rosen has the Warriors' one save this season.
WALK-OFFS: Already in the young season, Stan State has three walk-off victories. The first came in the Warriors 3-2 victory in ten innings of Minnesota Crookston on Feb. 16.
Alex Solis had a lead-off double and was pinch ran for by
Jackson Brooks who then went to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Flavio Perez. Brooks scored on an
Arthur Navarette Jr. infield single to second base. Their second walk-off win was in the night cap of Saturday's February 22 doubleheader with No. 20 CSUSB. With one out, Perez and
Luke Davies had back-to-back singles.
Danny Murphy pinch ran for Perez and scored on a
Jonluke Goldman single up the middle. Their latest one came in the Warriors' 5-4 eleven-inning victory over Cal State Los Angeles. Navarette hit a walk-off single that brought in
Jacob Reyes with the game-winning run in the eleventh inning.

FLOCOLLEGE/CCAA PITCHER OF THE WEEK: On February 10 as announced by the office of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Stan State's
Rocco Gurrola was named the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Gurrola struck out seven batters and walked no one in the Warriors' 10-2 victory over Saint Martin's on February 8.
ALL-TIME LEADER: Alex Solis is the Warriors' all-time leader with his 48 doubles in his career. He is third with his 175 hits. Solis is just two runs scored from moving into top ten and three runs batted in from moving into tenth.
BAKER TIED FOR NINTH: Jacob Baker is in a four-way tie for ninth place with his 34 career stolen bases. He is three stolen bases from moving into seventh place on the Stan State top ten list.

COUGARS: Heading into its non-conference series finale with No. 1 Tampa, Cal State San Marcos 8-8 overall and 3-5 in the CCAA. The Cougars lost two of the first three games to the Spartans 5-4 and 11-7 before taking game three 8-7 in eight innings. They are hitting .261 as a team with a .445 slugging and .398 on-base percentages. CSUSM has a .957 fielding percentage, and its pitching staff has a team earned run average of 5.11. Three Cougars are hitting .300 or higher in Hayden Tregidga (.328) and Garrett Teunissen and Tyler Weaver each at .300. Tregidga leads CSUSM with his five home runs, 18 runs batted in, and .603 slugging percentage. Phoenix Sommay has scored a team high 19 runs and Teunissen has stolen a team leading six bases. Spencer Anderson has a 2-0 record with a team low 2.96 earned run average and team leading 28 strikeouts and nine walks in 24.1 innings pitched. Nolan Long has recorded both Cougars' two saves this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series with the Cougars 13-13 including winning four of the last seven meetings. The two teams split the series last year in Turlock. The Warriors won the first two games 8-4 and 5-1. In their 8-4 victory,

Caleb Bertoncini pitched Stan State to a 5-1 victory in game two of the series. He gave up just six hits and a run in nine innings. Stan State lost the final two games 4-2 and 18-2. The Warriors took two of the three games in April 2023 in San Marcos. They won the series opener 4-3 but lost 2-0 and came back to win the series finale 15-8.
