INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.---- By capturing the first of the second heat of the mile at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, Stan State's
Annie Wild advances to the finals of the mile this Saturday, March 15 at 12:15 p.m. (PT). The top eight placers in the finals will earn All-American status.
Wild is looking to become the 24
th Stan State women's indoor track and field student-athlete to earn All-American honors and the first in the mile. The last Warrior to earn All-American honors was
Najwa Chouati in the 3,000-meter run in 2023.
The Warrior sophomore had the fastest time in the two heats with her time of 4:42.24. She is one of nine runners to advance to Saturday's finals. Finishing right behind her was Adams State's Elena Carey with a time of 4:42.52 followed by Pittsburg State's Katie Strader with a time of 4:43.04.
Rounding out the nine runners that will compete in Saturday's finale of the mile are: Adam State Maggie McCleskey (4:43.96), Grand Valley State's Maria Mitchell (4:45.80), Adam State's Ava O'Connor (4:46.14), UC Colorado Springs' Kate Hedlund (4:46.55), Wingate's Mia Cabrera (4:46.77) and Colorado Christian's Shannon King (4:46.77).
