Warriors Host Toros for a Pair of Doubleheaders

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State hosts two teams within the next week. On Friday and Saturday, March 21st and 22nd, Cal State Dominguez Hills travels to Warrior Softball Field for two doubleheaders. The first game on Friday is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., while the first game on Saturday will begin at 11:00 p.m.
 
LAST WEEK: Unfortunately, Stan State's doubleheader versus Menlo College was canceled due to weather. In their most recent series, the Warriors split their four-game series with Cal State San Bernardino, taking one game in each of the doubleheaders. In the first doubleheader, the Coyotes claimed the first game 7-4 while the Warriors took game two 6-3 with Karli DalBianco driving in five of those runs, hitting a grand slam to record four of them. In the second doubleheader, Stan State won the first game 3-2 with Sasha Martello batting in two runs for the Warriors, while Cal State San Bernardino took the second game 4-1.
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State is to 9-13 overall and 6-6 in CCAA play. The Warriors are hitting .265 as a team and hold a 3.44 earned run average. The Warriors have a .310 slugging percentage .348 on base percentage. Their 30 errors over 22 games earn them a .955 fielding percentage.
 
HITTERS: Two Warriors are hitting over .300 in Malia Babasa (.385) and Karli DalBianco (.319). Babasa leads the team in hits (30), stolen bases (2), and runs scored (14). Karli DalBianco has batted the most runs in with 11, while DalBianco and McKenna Beach have hit the Warriors' two home runs. DalBianco leads in slugging with .449 and McKenna Beach holds the highest on base percentage at .429.
 
PITCHERS: Victoria Alacron has a 4-4 record, leading the team in strikeouts with 45 and a 3.02 earned run average over 48.2 innings of work. Bree Barner has recorded Stan State's only save thus far and has walked the fewest batters at nine over 36.1 innings pitched.
 
MULTIPLES: Malia Babasa has earned the most multi-hit games at nine, with eight games with two hits and one game with three hits. Karli DalBianco follows with five games with four two-hit games and one three-hit game. Babasa holds longest hitting steak with 14 games, matching her on-base streak. Karli DalBianco has the most multi-RBI games with three, including two games with two RBIs and one with five RBIs.
 
NATIONALLY RANKED: Stan State is in the top 50 in NCAA Division II in several categories. As a team, they are 22nd in sacrifice bunts (20), 13th in double plays per game (.5), and 15th in double plays (11). Victoria Alarcon is 40th in complete games pitched with seven and 32nd in shutouts with two.
 
CCAA RANKINGS: The Warriors have claimed top five positions in several categories within the CCAA. As a team, Stan State is fourth in strikeouts per seven innings (4.41); third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.26), double plays per game (0.5), and total double plays (11); and second in sacrifice bunts (20). Malia Babasa is fifth in hits with 30. Victoria Alarcon is third with two shutouts and second in strikeouts per seven innings with 6.5. Karli DalBianco is now fourth in sacrifice bunts per game with 0.23.
 
BABASA: Malia Babasa, after going seven-for-fifteen versus Cal State San Bernardino, she has tied for the longest on-base streak this season with Katie Thornsberry. Both have a 14-game streak. For Babasa, this is also a 14-game hitting streak, and she has gotten two or more hits in nine games so far this season.
 
ALARCON: Victoria Alarcon, with 23 complete games in her career, has moved into the Stan State all-time career records list. Her 23 complete games place her at 10th all-time.
 
DALBIANCO: Karli DalBianco had a great weekend in San Bernardino, going five-for-nine over the four games. DalBianco drew three walks, had three sacrifice hits, and hit three doubles. Most notably, she hit her second career home run and first career grand slam in the second game on Saturday, March 8th. DalBianco drove in a career high five runs that game.
 
CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS: The Toros (15-14, 3-9 CCAA) will be heading to Stan State after playing two non-conference doubleheaders. As a team, Cal State Dominguez Hills has a .250 batting average and a .396 earned run average. Two players are batting over .300 in Alexis Aguado (.321) and Jay Ross (.317). Mireya Rico has the highest slugging percentage at .432. Aguado has scored the most runs with 22, leads in stolen bases with 13, and has the highest on base percentage at .411. Ross leads the team in runs batted in with 16, while Kaylee Hull has hit the most home runs for the Toros with three. Lillianna Garcia holds the best record in pitching at 7-1. Garcia also has the lowest ERA at 3.17 over 48.1 innings pitched. Ashley Ogata has recorded the most strikeouts with 34 over 74.1 innings. Garcia and Alivia Holden have earned the Toro's two saves.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State Dominguez Hills leads the all-time series with Stan State 63-51, dating back to 1993. Last season, Cal State Dominguez Hills swept the Warriors in the four-game series over two days, February 23rd and 24th. The Warriors look to get their first win versus the Toros since 2022.
