Stan State Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Program 11th in the Nation

NEW ORLEANS----  According to the recent United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Program of the Year Standings in the Mid-Year Update of the Jerry Baltes Women's Program of the Year, the Stan State Warriors are the eleventh best program in the nation in NCAA Division II. 

The Warriors received points in the standings this fall from the women's cross country team placing 24th at the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, Calif.  Stan State also received points from Annie Wild becoming the NCAA Division II National Champion in the mile.  Wild ran a first place of 4:40.62 at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 15 in Indianapolis, Ind.  With her first-place finish,

Wild gave Stan State ten points in the team standings to finish the Warriors tied for 19th place. The sophomore runner became Stan State's 24th Indoor Track & Field All-American. 
During the women's cross country season, Stan State had student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-West Region honors in Wild and Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva.  Those two along with Crystal Hernandez earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) honors by placing in the top 15 at the CCAA Cross Country Championships in October. 

Besides Wild qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in the mile, the Warriors had five other NCAA Division II indoor provisional qualifiers.  Wild also qualified with her time of 2:10.34 in the 800-meter run.  The Distance Medley Relay Team (DMR) of Wild, Sanchez-Silva, Mila Real, and Crystal Hernandez had a provisional time of 11:40.49.  Yahaira Zuniga and Hernandez each provisionally qualified in the 3000-meter run with their respective times of 9:47.33 and 9:49.73.  Besides qualifying as part of the DMR, Sanchez-Silva ran a 16:46.10 to provisionally qualify in the 5000-meter run.

Heading into this weekend's track & field meet at the West Coast Relays in Clovis, Calif., Wild has provisionally qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May in the 800-meter run.  Wild in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:10.47, which is the second fastest time in the nation.
