Stan State Heads to Cal State Monterey for Four-Game Series

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State travels to Seaside, Calif. this week to face Cal State Monterey Bay in a pair of doubleheaders. The first contest is scheduled for Friday, April 11th, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the second doubleheader on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 12:00 p.m.  
 
LAST WEEK: The Warriors were visited by Sonoma State, falling in all four games. The Seawolves took Friday's games 7-0 and 4-1. Avery Jolley had a good outing in the second game, going two-for-three and batting in the Warriors' run. On Saturday, Sonoma State took the games 6-3 and 5-0. Malia Babasa was four-for-eight between the two games and recorded an RBI. Madison Rosebrough and Katie Thornsberry each walked twice as well.
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State is 12-24 overall and 7-17 in CCAA play. The Warriors are hitting .241 as a team and hold a 3.79 earned run average. The Warriors have a .291 slugging percentage .325 on base percentage. Their 40 errors over 30 games earn them a .958 fielding percentage.
 
HITTERS: Two Warriors are hitting over .300 in Malia Babasa (.368) and Karli DalBianco (.327). Babasa leads the team in hits (43), stolen bases (7), runs scored (20), and on base percentage (.417). Karli DalBianco has batted the most runs in (17), leads the team in home runs (2), and leads in slugging with (.434).
 
PITCHERS: Victoria Alarcon has a 6-8 record, leading the team in strikeouts with 62 and a 2.99 earned run average over 86.2 innings of work. Bree Barner has recorded Stan State's only save thus far, while Sasha Martello has recorded the team's fewest walks with seven.
 
MULTIPLES: Malia Babasa has earned the most multi-hit games with 12, recording nine games with two hits, two games with three hits, and one game with four hits. Karli DalBianco follows with nine games with seven two-hit games and two three-hit games. Babasa holds longest hitting steak with 14 games, with her on-base streak at 15. Karli DalBianco has the most multi-RBI games with four, including three games with two RBIs and one with five RBIs.
 
NATIONALLY RANKED: Stan State is in the top 50 in NCAA Division II in several categories. As a team, they are 49th in sacrifice bunts (28), 28th in double plays (15), and 23rd in double plays per game (0.44). Sasha Martello is 23rd in walks per seven innings at 1.01.
 
CCAA RANKINGS: The Warriors have claimed top five positions in several categories within the CCAA. As a team, Stan State is fifth in total sacrifice bunts (28), strikeouts per seven innings (3.9), and double plays per game (0.44); and third in strikeout-to-walk-ratio (1.91).

BABASA: Malia Babasa continues to find ways to get on base, now up to a nine game on-base streak and .417 on base percentage. With seven stolen bases this season, she makes it dangerous for other teams to allow her to reach the bases.
 
ONE FOR THE MANY: Karli DalBianco added another sacrifice hit this past week to bring her count up to seven. Her seven sacrifice hits lead the team, followed by Malia Babasa and Sarah Warden, each with five.
 
MARTELLO: Sasha Martello had a good outing as a reliever, pitching 1.1 innings and striking out two of the five batters she faced swinging.  In the full inning she pitched, she faced three batters, with two strikeouts and a groundout.
 
CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY: The Otters (20-20, 9-15) are batting .262 and hold a 3.97 earned run average as a team. Two players are batting over .300 in Anastacia Alba (.324) and Abreanna Alba (.391). Abreanna Alba leads in hits with 43 and runs scored with 19. Ally Alcayaga has the highest slugging percentage at .566 and has hit a team-leading six home runs. Neveah Martinez has batted in the most runs with 30. Kieley Ganaden is the stolen base leader with six. Kadence Nulick holds the lowest earned run average at 2.63 with 44 strikeouts over 80 innings pitched. Savannah Madrigal has the best record at 9-6, and Kaitlyn Le and Nulick have recorded the Otters' two saves with one each.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State Monterey Bay leads the all-time series 47-25, dating back to 2006. Last season, the two teams split their four-game series, with each team also winning a game in five innings.

UP NEXT: The Warriors return home for their second to last regular season series. They will be hosting San Francisco State for two doubleheaders, beginning Friday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 19th, the doubleheader begins at 11:00 p.m. An egg hunt will take place between games and the seniors will be recognized at the conclusion of both games for Senior Day. After the ceremony, the team will hold a poster signing.
