VISTA, Calif. — Led by a top-20 finish from
Owen Bascom, Stan State men's golf finished tied for 10th place with Jessup at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational after three rounds at Shadowridge Country Club.
The Warriors posted a three-round total of 899 (+35), carding rounds of 301, 289, and 309 on the par-72, 7,002-yard layout. Stan State and Jessup shared 10th place in the 13-team field.
Bascom paced the Warriors by tying for 18th overall with a 219 (+3). He rebounded with a strong second-round 69 (-3) before closing the tournament with a 75 in the final round.
Riley Kirk finished tied for 33rd at 222 (+6), shooting rounds of 73, 74, and 75.
Carson Diaz tied for 45th with a 225 (+9), highlighted by a second-round 70.
Chase Bird placed 65th at 235 (+19). Competing as an individual,
Jesse Verheul placed 71st overall with a three-round total of 244 (+28), posting rounds of 80, 82, and 82.
Western Washington captured the team title at 864 (-3), while CSUSM finished second and CSU San Bernardino placed third. CSUSM's Liam Weaver earned medalist honors with a 206 (-10).
FIELD NOTES
The 13-team field at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational included Chico State, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Dominican (CA), Jessup, Simon Fraser, Stan State, UT Tyler, Vanguard, Westmont and Western Washington, with several programs nationally ranked or receiving regional consideration.

The Warriors' next tournament will be the Visit Stockton DII Invitational on Monday, Feb. 23, with an 8 a.m. start at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif. The course will also serve as the site of the CCAA Championships and the NCAA Division II Super West/South Central Regional later this spring in April and May.
