Bridgeman Named Stan State Invitational Most Outstanding Player; Himes Earns All-Tournament Honors

TURLOCK, Calif. — After leading Stan State to a perfect 5-0 showing at the Stan State Invitational, Katelyn Bridgeman was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, while Alexandria (Yaya) Himes earned All-Tournament Team honors as the complete team was announced following the weekend's action at Warrior Softball Field.

Bridgeman powered the Warriors offensively and defensively throughout the tournament, hitting .438 (7-for-16) with six runs scored and four RBI over five games. She delivered the walk-off RBI single in Stan State's 5-4 victory over Saint Martin's and recorded multiple hits in three contests. Behind the plate, she posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 16 putouts and four assists while guiding the pitching staff to a dominant weekend.

Himes was equally impressive in the circle, going 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA across 14.0 innings. She allowed just one earned run and did not issue a walk, earning a complete-game win over Dominican (6-2) and tossing a four-hit shutout in the Warriors' 2-0 victory over Menlo.

Stan State finished the invitational with wins over Dominican (6-2), Central Washington (6-1), Central Washington (9-1, 5 innings), Saint Martin's (5-4) and Menlo (2-0) to improve to 8-2 overall.

Stan State returns to Warrior Softball Field on Tuesday, Feb. 17, hosting Simon Fraser in a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The Warriors then travel to Tracy, Calif., for the NorCal Crossover at the Tracy Sports Complex. Stan State will face Northwest Nazarene on Friday, Feb. 27 at 9:00 a.m., followed by Western Washington at 2:00 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Warriors play Central Washington at 9:00 a.m. and Montana State Billings at 12:00 p.m. The crossover concludes Sunday, Mar. 1 with Western Oregon at 11:30 a.m.
CCAA play begins March 6-7 when Stan State travels to No. 3 Cal State San Marcos for a four-game series. The teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., followed by another doubleheader Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
