TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State women's tennis is set to open the 2026 spring season at home on Saturday, Feb. 7, welcoming Jessup University to the Stan State Tennis Courts for a PacWest matchup scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
The season opener marks the first opportunity for the Warriors to compete in dual-match play this spring as they begin a competitive PacWest schedule. Stan State enters the year looking to build on last season's progress and establish early momentum in conference play.
Season Outlook
Led by veteran head coach Verek Visaraga, now in his 23rd season, the Warriors return a strong core of experience from a team that posted a competitive 46-43 overall record in 2024-25, including a 10-2 start and several key wins across the lineup. Stan State was ranked as high as fifth in the PacWest coaches poll last year, narrowly finishing among the conference's top competitors.
Last season featured standout singles performances from returners like Parker Orlando (8-2 in singles) and Abbigail Mulick (7-5), who helped anchor the lineup and provided match-winning depth across the dual schedule. The Warriors also produced strong doubles efforts, particularly from the pairing of Mulick and Orlando, which posted a 6-4 mark in 2024-25.
Scouting Jessup
Jessup enters the spring season under new leadership, with Nicole Briceno beginning her first year as head coach after previously guiding Academy of Art to a PacWest title in 2024. The Warriors of Jessup return several players from last season while integrating new faces into the lineup as they continue to build within the PacWest Conference.
Saturday's matchup provides an early conference test for both teams and an opportunity for Stan State to set the tone on its home courts. The Warriors will look to take advantage of familiar surroundings against a Jessup squad eager to make an impact early in the season.
Up Next
Following the home opener, Stan State will continue its spring schedule with additional PacWest and non-conference matches as the Warriors prepare for postseason positioning and a return to the PacWest Conference Championships later this spring.
Admission is free, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the Warriors as they open the season on their home courts.
