Warriors Ride Hot PacWest Start Into Nonconference Test vs. UC Davis

Stan State looks to build on a dominant PacWest-opening sweep as the Warriors host Big West opponent UC Davis in a nonconference matchup at home

TURLOCK, Calif. – Stan State women's tennis returns home this week riding early PacWest momentum and will host UC Davis on Friday, Feb. 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stan State Tennis Courts. The nonconference matchup follows a dominant conference-opening performance by the Warriors as they continue to build consistency early in the spring schedule.

Stan State opened PacWest play with a decisive 7-0 sweep of William Jessup at home, controlling play from the opening serve and setting a confident tone in league action. The Warriors secured the doubles point before rolling through singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets and allowing just eight total games across the singles lineup.

Jessup Match Recap

The Warriors established momentum early in doubles play, highlighted by a commanding 6-0 win from Parker Orlando and Katrine Damjaer at No. 2 doubles. Emma Yu and Abbigail Mulick battled at the top spot, setting the stage for a dominant singles showing.

Stan State was nearly untouchable in singles action, earning four 6-0, 6-0 victories across the lineup. Abbigail Mulick delivered a double bagel at No. 2 singles, while Parker Orlando matched the effort at No. 4. Maiah White and Emi Mikami added clean points at the bottom of the lineup, as the Warriors closed out the sweep without dropping a set.

The result marked Stan State's first PacWest win of the season and underscored the team's depth, particularly in singles play, where the Warriors controlled tempo across all courts.

Looking Ahead: UC Davis

Stan State now turns its focus to UC Davis, a Big West opponent that enters Friday's match following a split weekend in Davis. The Aggies fell to Washington State before rebounding with a narrow 4-3 win over UC Irvine, showing resilience in tightly contested duals.

Friday's matchup offers the Warriors an opportunity to defend home courts while testing their momentum against a non-conference opponent with experience in close matches.

First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Stan State Tennis Courts.
