ALAMEDA, Calif. — Riley Kirk carded a final-round 2-under 70 to lead Stan State to a 15th-place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park. The Warriors totaled 15-over 879 (289-297-293) over three rounds to place 15th out of 18 teams.
Kirk paced Stan State with a one-over 217 (73-74-70), finishing in a seven-way tie for 28th overall. His two-under performance in the final round marked the low score of the day for the Warriors and helped him climb the leaderboard to close out the tournament.
Owen Bascom finished tied for 48th at five-over 221 (72-73-76), while Chase Bird placed tied for 63rd at seven-over 223 (75-77-71). Carson Diaz and Ricky Sullivan each tied for 72nd at nine-over 225, with Diaz posting rounds of 73-76-76 and Sullivan shooting 71-74-80. Competing as an individual, Jesse Verheul finished 86th at 13-over 229 (79-75-75).
No. 19 CSU East Bay claimed the team title at 15-under 849, followed by Colorado Christian at 12-under 852 and CSU San Bernardino at 10-under 854. Individually, Tucker Sweeney of Santa Clara, competing as an individual, earned medalist honors at 10-under 206, while Conrad Brown of Western Washington finished second at nine-under 207 and Bradley Mulder of Colorado Christian placed third at eight-under 208.
Stan State will next travel to Beaumont for the Coyote Classic on March 23-24 at Oak Valley Golf Club. The Warriors then return home to host the 51st Hanny Stanislaus Invitational on April 13-14 at Turlock Golf & Country Club. Postseason play begins April 20-22 at the CCAA Championships in Stockton at The Reserve at Spanos Park, followed by the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional on May 7-9 in Stockton. The NCAA Division II National Championships are scheduled for May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
