SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Stan State (11-5) opens California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play in a big way this weekend, traveling south for a four-game series against No. 1 Cal State San Marcos. The teams will play back-to-back doubleheaders Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, with first pitch set for 12 and 2 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday at CSUSM Softball Field.
NorCal Crossover Recap
Stan State went 3-2 at the NorCal Crossover Classic at the Tracy Sports Complex, hitting .319 as a team with 45 hits and 23 runs scored over five games. The Warriors posted a 3.29 ERA during the weekend, highlighted by strong pitching performances throughout the three-day stretch.
Alexandria Himes went 2-1 in the circle with 14 strikeouts in 15.0 innings, while Nat Camarena earned a win and a save with 11 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. Offensively, Katrina Rodriguez hit .545, Malia Babasa batted .471, and Katelyn Bridgeman added a .444 average to lead a balanced Warrior attack.
Warriors Update
Through 16 games, Stan State is batting .285 as a team with 120 hits, 15 doubles, two triples and two home runs while scoring 77 runs. The Warriors carry a .344 slugging percentage and a .378 on-base percentage into the opening weekend of CCAA play.

Malia Babasa is hitting .380 with 19 hits, four doubles, two triples and nine RBI while carrying a .540 slugging percentage. Katrin Rodriguez owns a .379 average with 11 hits and six RBI, while Ava Montesdeoca is batting .333 with 16 hits and 15 runs scored. Nat Camarena has driven in 11 RBI with two home runs and owns a team-best .556 slugging percentage.
Pitching Leaders
Alexis Camberos anchors the staff with a 3-0 record and a 2.19 ERA over 38.1 innings. Alexandria Himes is 5-2 with a 2.53 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 38.2 innings, including four complete games. Nat Camarena is 3-2 with 23 strikeouts in 27.1 innings and has also recorded a save.
All-Tournament Honors
Himes, Babasa and Bridgeman were named to the NorCal Crossover All-Tournament Team. Bridgeman was selected as the Most Outstanding Player at the Stan State Invite, while Himes earned All-Tournament Team honors at that event. Bridgeman, Ava Montesdeoca and Alexis Camberos were also named to the D2 West Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team.
CSUSM in Review
Cal State San Marcos enters the weekend at 18-1 overall, hitting .349 as a team with 170 hits, 17 home runs and 132 runs scored while carrying a .524 slugging percentage and .422 on-base percentage. The Cougars have also stolen 44 bases in 47 attempts this season.
Jillian Albayati leads the lineup with a .542 batting average, seven home runs and 32 RBI. Jordan Elias is hitting .425, Marissa Morales owns a .390 average, and Czar Fleischman has added four home runs and 16 RBI to power a deep Cougar offense.
In the circle, CSUSM owns a 1.05 team ERA and is holding opponents to a .204 batting average. Jordan Hill is 6-1 with a 0.15 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 48.0 innings, while Daleah Cardenas (6-0, 1.58 ERA) and Madison Cabrera (3-0, 1.48 ERA) give the Cougars a dominant three-arm rotation entering CCAA play.
The Cougars are coming off a 4-0 showing at the NorCal Crossover Classic in Tracy, earning wins over Montana State Billings (6-0), Menlo (5-3), Western Washington (10-6) and Western Oregon (7-0). CSUSM outscored its opponents 28-9 during the weekend, posting two shutouts.

CSUSM leads the all-time series 19-16 dating back to 2011. Stan State is 9-10 at home and 7-9 on the road in the matchup, with the teams splitting the conference record at 16-16 overall.
The Cougars have won the last five meetings, including a 1-0 victory in the most recent matchup on Feb. 22, 2025, in San Marcos. Stan State is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings.
The Warriors' longest win streak in the series was seven games from March 30, 2018, through March 16, 2019, while CSUSM's longest streak was also seven games from March 16, 2019, through April 28, 2023.
Stan State's largest margin of victory in the series was an 11-0 win on April 21, 2017, while the smallest margin of victory was a 6-5 win on Feb. 16, 2024.
